The Software Engineer, QA Automation is responsible for creating testing best practices and managing and maintaining the testing framework and test management suite. Responsible for designing dashboards, graphically depicting test penetration progress, test coverage (heat maps), testing status (pass, fail, blocked, not executed). Mentoring junior level engineers on the end-to-end test lifecycle process (how to design, create, maintain, execute and interpret results of the automated test cases). Must be a key advocate for code quality and regularly interact with engineering to help provide insights on how to improve code quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Meeting with Engineering scrum teams to discuss verification process
- Identifies software application weakness and target areas
- Designs automated software test procedures, reviews software bug reports and highlights problem areas
- Writes automation test scripts and implements software application
- Troubleshoots automation framework and finalizes systems procedures
- Identifies quality issues and creating test reports
- Collaborates with the engineering team to solve application faults
Requirements, skills, and knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a similar field
- 5-7 years of previous experience working as a QA automation engineer
- Strong knowledge of test automation, test tool creation, automation frameworks, preferably Selenium Web Driver
- Strong knowledge of full software development life cycle, QA methodology, tools and software testing standards
- Advanced programming skills including automation systems and databases
- Proficient experience with programming script languages, preferably Python
- Excellent analytical skills
- Detailed knowledge of application functions, bug fixing, and testing protocols
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Good project management skills
