The Manager, Software Development – Front End is a leader within the software engineering functional reporting line. Development managers are aligned to one or more product areas and are the leaders of both the people and technology in that area. They are responsible for working directly with product managers to define the product roadmap, estimate the work, and deliver on it. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both the technology platform and the business as well as demonstrate strong technical skills. The Development Manager will manage, grow, hire, retain, and build a strong engineering team and empower them to deliver a high-quality product in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities

  • Assure the team is fully engaged and productive
  • Uphold a high standard of engineering practices, strategies and quality within the front end space, ensuring that our software meets the highest standards of customer experience
  • Possess thorough visibility into projects, drive progress while considering cross-functional requirements, priorities, trade-offs and managing expectations
  • Operate at a granular level to understand the technical details in order to resolve obstacles
  • Lead from the front through hands-on management practices working alongside employees
  • Deliver ongoing feedback to the team members, coach, mentor, offer opportunities for growth and development
  • Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships across the organization to promote collaboration and ensure alignment

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience hands on working with modern UI frameworks, like Angular or React
  • 3+ years of experience in a management role
  • Ability to problems’ solve and make complex decisions in ambiguous situations and environments
  • Great interpersonal skills, deep technical ability, and a track record of successful execution
  • Experience leading both established products, as well as emerging products using agile practices
  • Experience setting the vision, building, leading, and motivating development teams
  • Ability to build and foster a culture where the best ideas win, even when they are not yours
  • Available to work in a Hybrid environment- 2-3 days per week in office
