Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant will possess skills to perform a variety of accounting and financial tasks. The responsibilities will include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling accounts and statements. A successful Senior Accountant should be proficient with all accounting procedures to ensure the Bank’s daily accounting functions are accurate and run effectively. The Senior Accountant will possess the ability to recognize, research, track and correct discrepancies in a timely manner. You will work closely with other members of the finance team to ensure that the bank’s financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported. Bank accounting experience is preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including the preparation and review of journal entries
  • Performance and oversight of the reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including the timely identification and resolution of discrepancies
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of the Federal Reserve account
  • Oversee and assist with the processing of accounts payable, including ensuring the accuracy of expense allocation among general ledger accounts and departments
  • Assist with daily liquidity position of the Bank
  • Provide support with monthly and quarterly financial reports and analysis
  • Assist with tax calculation and payments
  • Support the audit process by maintaining and gathering necessary documentation
  • Contribute to other ad-hoc projects and requests as needed

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with accounting and bank software programs such as Prologue, Integra, and Insight
  • Excellent research, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to problem solve and verbalize data analysis to all levels of management and departments
  • Ability to manage projects and workflows based on time constraints
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel including tables, charts, and graphs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player who will collaborate with team members and ask for help when needed

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • B.S. or B.A. in Accountancy or equivalent degree
  • 3+ years of bank accounting experience
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to evaluate and improve on processes and procedures
