Citizens Capital Markets & Advisory (CM&A) group is seeking a Managing Director or Director with a focus on Commercial Real Estate/Mortgage Finance to join the Debt Capital Markets team. This role may be based in one of the following locations: Charlotte, New York City or Boston.
The Managing Director is responsible for leading syndication origination, syndicate, and distribution support for bank, bond and structured product financings across Citizens Commercial Real Estate franchise. This role will advise Citizens’ real estate franchise on appropriate capital structure execution strategies, structure, and syndication processes.
The Managing Director/Director will play an integral role in Citizens’ efforts to build a leading syndication position with Real Estate. Other responsibilities including strategic planning, developing and retaining junior bankers while fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence. This individual will also help to build the visibility and thought leadership of the Real Estate practice both internally and externally and will be a key figure in our Real Estate strategy and practice.
Primary responsibilities include
- Originate capital markets opportunities collaboratively with Citizens relationship teams by leading proactive client prospecting, managing portfolio changes, and responding to market opportunities in coordination with the Commercial Real Estate teams.
- Establish presentation timelines, coordinate and mobilize internal capital market resources and develop pitch concepts.
- Work with internal constituents to design optimal capital structure execution strategies. Architect creative pitch ideas and oversee presentation creation by junior staff.
- Present quality idea generating proposals to Citizens clients and prospect base and follow up as required.
- Establish and cultivate Bank and Institutional Relationships across the Real Estate sector.
- Prepare and present offering materials to potential investors and negotiate critical structural elements with client and investors.
- Manage distribution process with all financial institutions through a successful closing of transaction.
- Track current market conditions, terms and structures within the real estate financing markets.
- Liaise with risk management to ensure that appropriate credit and market risks are identified and addressed while addressing current market conditions.
- Maintain effective license to operate by sustaining a high level of trust and confidence by senior line and risk management.
Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Real Estate lending and Loan Syndications and Capital Markets.
- Experience working within a top 10 ranked syndication institution.
- Commercial Real Estate capital markets sector experience required with Fixed Income experience preferable.
- Deep relationships with lenders including banks, institutional funds, private capital and developers is a must.
- Master's degree or equivalent experience.
- Series 7 & 63 licenses.
- Demonstrated burning desire to succeed and drive business.
- Effective communications and influencing skills.
- Strong credit acumen and superior market risk knowledge.
Hours & Work Schedule
- Hours per Week: 40
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $350,000 to $400,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
