The Role

The Director, Investment Product will be responsible for managing and leading due diligence efforts associated with Fidelity’s alternatives strategies. Most notably, the role will focus on managing the firm’s virtual data rooms across Fidelity’s alternatives strategies, which will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing key documents from multiple investment teams, ensuring documents are appropriately organized and saved in virtual data rooms.

  • Working closely with cross-functional teams (investment teams, marketing, legal, compliance) to ensure materials are up-to-date and compliance-approved.

  • Facing off with data room providers directly and leading our organizational data room strategy.

  • Working closely with distribution teams, in particular our institutional and intermediary sales and relationship management teams, to ensure appropriate access is provided to prospects and to capture real time feedback on due diligence efforts.

  • Maintaining regular communication with key stakeholders both internally (e.g., distribution leadership, IPMs, operations, marketing) and externally (e.g., consulting firms, sales prospects). This role will align various interests and ensure stakeholders are informed and supportive of Fidelity’s alternatives initiatives.

  • Creating and enhancing investment content for product positioning in collaboration with investment teams and marketing.

The role will also help drive innovation and new product development to ensure that Fidelity’s alternatives product line continues to meet evolving customer needs. You will partner with the investment teams to understand and articulate product design, investment approaches and positioning across a range of strategies. You will contribute to ongoing product strategy for assigned products. Product strategy responsibilities include:

  • Market Analysis: Conducting thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and threats. This involves analyzing competitor alternatives materials and ensuring Fidelity’s alternatives due diligence collateral is in line with market expectations.

  • Finding opportunities to reposition or enhance existing products to improve longer-term marketability.

  • Contributing to the long-term alternatives product roadmap to capitalize on emerging market trends and themes in collaboration with the alternatives investment teams.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 7+ years of experience working in the financial services industry. Current team members have a range of investment-focused product, consulting, fund research, or client-facing backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of and interest in investments; foundational knowledge of alternatives strategies preferred.

  • Deep understanding of retail, intermediary, and institutional distribution channels and their specific client needs and competitor sets.

  • Strong educational credentials.

  • Series 7 & 63 licenses (can be obtained while in role).

  • Demonstrating leadership to propose and drive various cross-team projects

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills are critical to success

  • Innovative and strategic problem solver with a passion for investment products and a deep understanding of the evolving competitive environment.

  • Highly effective communicator with excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Exhibits a strong track record of collaborating with others and working effectively in a team environment to meet customer needs and deliver business results.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments while producing high quality work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

The Investment Product Group plays a key role in the company, partnering closely with asset management, Fidelity’s distribution channels, and the broader organization to deliver a diverse range of investment capabilities and vehicles to meet the needs of retail, intermediary, and institutional clients.
