Amendment Consultant II
The Role
The Amendment Consultant (AC) provides document and administrative support to clients and business partners who maintain an existing book of business of over 23,000 plans. The AC uses written procedures to make decisions and independently coordinate with others regarding business policies, procedures and documentation. This position requires knowledge of ERISA and the DOL regulations qualified plan rules under the Internal Revenue Code. The AC will interpret, apply, and make good judgment calls independently. One will assist and instruct others on decisions to be made in processing amendments. The AC supports Emerging/Mid/Advisor markets using the volume submitter document and partners closely with Client Relationship Management to ensure successful completion of more than 20,000 amendments a year. The AC generates solutions for standardized, lower complexity plan amendments.
The AC has the authority to make decisions related to the amendment projects that they are working on. Ultimately, they sign on behalf of Fidelity Management Trust Company (FMTC) and understand the importance of the representation.

Assigned to complete a book of both standardized and sophisticated plan amendments

Countersign on behalf of Fidelity, including amendments worked by interns and temporary workforce

Responds to clients and relationship managers

Has a proven understanding of the client’s objectives and offer assistance and possible options

Makes decisions based on protecting the client and Fidelity

Communicates status of amendment to the client and Client Relationship Management

Handles workflow with India business partners and addresses their inquiries

Independently determines documents are in good order, signed, and acceptable before countersigning on behalf of FMTC

May assist in training and mentoring of new teammates, or interns/temporary workforce
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
-
5-7 years of defined contribution retirement plan experience
-
Previous work experience with Plan Central, XTRAC, Docusign, WPDT, Salesforce a plus

Specialist understanding of ERISA, IRC, and DOL regulations related to 401(k) plans

Strong digital literacy; MS Office Suite

Understanding of the 401(k) industry

Knowledge of Fidelity products, services, policies and procedures

Ability to prioritize workload based on timing needs, risk, and client expectations

Effective time management

Excellent written and verbal communication

Ability to articulate a point of view in a compelling & succinct manner

Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment & handle large volume of work

Ability to comprehend and explain technical concepts
The Team
The Amendment Consulting Team is a pivotal group that ensures the maintenance of existing client volume submitter plan documents and service agreement contracts. The Amendment team is the control point for updates as well as ensuring the WI Defined Contribution Recordkeeping systems align with the plans provisions. This role as the amendment expert for WI Core market clients, consults with Managing Directors and clients to ensure that each amendment meets a clients desired outcome and is executed exactly to direction. The role adds value by ensuring that plan provisions will work seamlessly with Fidelity services once live. The Amendment Consultant role is actively engaged with Managing Directors, Testing and Reporting, Systems Installation Group, Billing and Conversion Services to coordinate updates.
