VP Finance – Head of Fidelity Institutional Technology, Finance

The Role

​Fidelity Institutional (FI) offers access to Fidelity’s proprietary investment management solutions, institutional trading and financing solutions, a platform for asset managers to distribute their investment management solutions to Fidelity customers, and investment-led market research and insights.

The Vice President will report to the Head of FI Strategy & Finance and will be responsible for supporting a 1,500+ person technology group (FIT). This person will work closely with FI’s CIO to provide financial support to help lead and prioritize the technology organization and will be responsible for sharing key findings/results with the firm’s leadership team. The role will be a Finance lead for Workforce Connect, JIRA, JIRA Align, TBM Planning, Active Position Management.

Other responsibilities for this role include driving FIT’s multi-year planning, annual budget process, quarterly technology review (QTR), and reporting. Additionally, provide guidance for Finance Modernization initiatives, such as Next Generation of Allocated Views. This role involves managing a small team.

The successful candidate will help Fidelity Institutional continue to grow its business profitably and responsibly and provide thought leadership and creative thinking to the FI finance organization. Success will require an analytical mindset, strong collaboration skills, comprehensive problem solving, independent thinking, and intellectual curiosity.

The Expertise We’re Looking for and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent with 15+ years of experience or advanced degree with 13+ years of experience.
  • Outstanding strategic, analytical, communication, conceptual thinking, project management, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communications skills and demonstrated ability to influence senior business leaders.
  • End to end problem solving capabilities from defining complex problems to synthesizing key points and drawing out connections to broader trends and business priorities.
  • Ability to build and motivate effective, results-oriented teams through solid organizational, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and project management skills
  • Proven ability and flexibility to manage multiple priorities on a deadline basis.
  • Confidence and ability to influence business partners.
  • In-depth, working knowledge of financial applications including data sources.

The Value You Deliver

  • Lead the development and delivery of business performance measures across FI
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and monitoring business performance, preparing analytics and other ad hoc request
  • Delivering insightful analytics and synthesizing results for executive level reviews
  • Coordinate and execute broad, high-profile projects.
  • Promote the development and engagement of the FI Central Analyst Team that will report directly to you.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with broader FI finance community to ensure consistency in analysis approach, standards for data and definitions, and being proactive in supporting time critical projects.

The base salary range for this position is $123,000-$207,000 per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
