Director of Communications, Fidelity Wealth

The Purpose of This Role
The Director of Communications for Fidelity Wealth will work directly with the Head of Fidelity Wealth Communications to set communications strategies and messaging, as well as lead, design, and execute impactful communications programs that support business objectives and align with Fidelity enterprise priorities. These communications will reach key stakeholders that include associates, clients, and business partners, with a focus on measurement and impact to determine effectiveness.
As a trusted consultant to senior executives with deep expertise in communications strategy and content, this role will guide leaders toward best practices in executive communications, associate engagement, and change management, and play a lead role in the development and execution of additional types of business communications beyond those of senior leaders, working with key business partners (e.g., HR, Strategy & Finance, Product & Marketing, Meetings & Events, Distribution, etc.).
In addition, this role will help amplify Fidelity Wealth’s profile across the rest of the Fidelity enterprise, and will partner closely with colleagues in Fidelity’s government relations, public policy, external communications, and social media teams.
The Expertise We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10-12+ years of relevant experience as a communications professional
- Deep expertise across executive, internal, and external communications; social media expertise preferred
- Financial services knowledge preferred
The Skills You Bring
- Strong business acumen and a strategic mindset, able to understand a business’ multi-year plan, financial drivers, and align and prioritize high-impact communications around this for both internal and external audiences
- Excellent program management and planning skills, with proven ability to lead multiple components of multi-faceted communications and change management programs
- Strong content strategist with exceptional storytelling skills across various media/channels (e.g., events, blogs, social media posts, videos, presentations, talking points, and emails), with the ability to take complex concepts and distill them into compelling content that resonates with key stakeholders
- Collaborative and relationship-oriented, with the ability to think and work successfully across the firm
- Innovative thinker, with a desire to continuously learn and take creativity to the next level
- Independent and consultative – able to provide strategic recommendations across all levels of an organization, with a particular skill in consulting with senior leaders
- Ability to coach other members of the team, helping them grow their skills across executive, internal, and external communications
- Focused on quality but can balance pace over perfection
- Demonstrates impact of the communications the team delivers
How This Role Impacts the Organization
This role will help represent the voice of Fidelity leaders and are responsible for engaging their organizations in critical business initiatives. From an internal communications standpoint, this role is at the forefront of helping executives think and work differently as they increase their digital presence and reduce their dependency on traditional/legacy communications strategies and tactics. From an external communications standpoint, this role’s work strongly influences Fidelity’s position in the marketplace and ability to attract, develop and retain business.
