Position Description:
Develops distributed applications and middleware technologies using REST/SOAP Web Services, Java SQL, PLSQL, messaging, Kafka, JavaScript, and Test-Driven Development (TDD). Designs, develops, and documents Application Programming Interface (APIs) and RESTful API’s using SwaggerHub, and Open API Standards. Develops and designs websites and applications using API development frameworks (Spark, Hibernate, and Spring Boot). Analyzes data and databases, using Oracle PL/SQL or Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS). Deploys applications in a DevOps environment using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and practices - Shell scripting, Maven, BitBucket, MEND, Git/Stash, Jenkins, Artifactory, and uDeploy. Provides business solutions by developing complex software applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.
Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, implementing, and supporting web applications, APIs, and data pipelines using Java, Spring, and Oracle in a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, implementing, and supporting web applications, APIs, and data pipelines using Java, Spring, and Oracle in a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing, developing, implementing, and testing Middleware or APIs using Spring and Oracle SQL within a cloud environment (AWS), including Java or Python for web development; and performing automated testing and deployment within CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, and Maven.
DE designing, implementing, testing, and optimizing front-end applications run in browsers using a modern front-end JavaScript framework (Angular and React).
DE writing complex SQL queries and optimizing query performance in a modern relational database (Oracle) using Oracle SQL Developer and DBeaver.
DE testing, deploying, and maintaining software and writing technical design documentation on an Agile team, using Scrum and Kanban including Test-Driven Development; and developing and managing Kafka in a data pipeline.
