The Role

Fidelity Investments is seeking a Squad Leader (SL) within our Personalization Platform team. Our portfolio of personalization solutions enables creation and orchestration of real time personalized experiences for our customers across different channels (web, mobile, virtual assistant, call routing, etc.).

The SL leads an integrated roadmap for product development within an assigned squad, partnering with other leaders to align product cluster- and product area-level strategic priorities, planning, and curating a shared backlog. They also ensure clear backlog prioritization and communication to squad members, adjacent squads, internal clients, and other partners for successful execution.

  • Sets overall mission and vision for their squad, providing integral thought leadership across different platform components and key points of integration, backlog trade-off definition, prioritization, and alignment in collaboration with the Product Cluster and Product Area leaders to ensure alignment on overall strategy.
  • Partners as a 'powerful pair' with the respective Chapter Leaders across Engineering, Analytics, and Data Science to align on strategic decisions, solution development and work priorities, ensuring the best-in-class engineering and analytics are at the core of our product solutions.
  • Supports an assigned squad as they add new value delivered through prioritization, creativity, innovation, collaboration, and decision making.
  • Is accountable for squad's performance and represents the voice of the client in all squad activities. Ensures alignment on the 'what' and 'when' work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog.
  • Partners with chapter and product area leaders to support squad talent needs, defining skill gaps, and building learning opportunities to achieve the strategic direction of the domain and product areas.
  • Makes decisions based on anticipated future trends, issues, and business drivers. Identifies and negotiates dependencies across business partners.
  • Navigates and guides the squad through high degree of organizational complexity in support of cross-domain and cross-squad work.
  • Provide leadership and support in the research and resolution of sophisticated problems, including definition, solution recommendation, testing, and communication with end-users, vendors and other management and staff leading to timely problem resolution.
  • Lead/collaborate with a team of 5 - 7 engineers and analysts to strategize and deliver personalization capabilities.
  • Handle changes with analytic and business teams as we migrate workloads to the cloud-based designs.
  • Advocate for adoption of recommender systems, API’s and algorithmic capabilities across the company.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
  • 10-15+ years proven leadership and strategic experience
  • Proven track record of customer-focused engagement and collaboration across business units with a strategic approach and ability advocate for the adoption of tools and methods that improve the usability and value of personalization solutions.
  • Background in common AI, ML, and data science methods and general familiarity with Multi Arm Bandit, Reinforcement Learning, Transfer Learning algorithms.
  • Experience leading projects with new/emerging technology and/or products in the early strategy and design stage.
  • Makes decisions that impact results with limited guidance and oversight and shift focus and/or direction to meet changing conditions.
  • Uses strong analytical and judgment skills to set direction and achievement of goals; keeping key business partners informed on progress.
  • Uses strong influencing and problem-solving skills to resolve competing product area/squad level strategic priorities.
  • Effective communicator and relationship manager with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders.
