Builds and maintains a mainframe platform using JCL, REXX, Cobol, Easytrieve, Assembler, and C++. Maintains the mainframe platform and capabilities that provide financial planning, investment, and retirement solutions. Designs and develops applications and systems using parallel sysplex, ZOWE, and zOSMF and scripts languages -- Python, XML, JSON, and Ansible.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develops applications using core z/OS systems programming and support.
Collaborates with external vendors for projects.
Ensures technical projects are delivered on time and at expected quality.
Gathers requirements from the business and various stakeholders, and translate them into actions for the team.
Improves stability, availability and performance of platform.
Develops, documents and revises system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.
Consults with management to ensure agreement on system principles.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Operating Systems Programmer (or closely related occupation) supporting Mainframe hardware, operating system, automation, parallel sysplex, network and storage using IBM Tools, ISV tools and Scripting languages in a mainframe infrastructure environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Operating Systems Programmer (or closely related occupation) supporting Mainframe hardware, operating system, automation, parallel sysplex, network and storage using IBM Tools, ISV tools and Scripting languages in a mainframe infrastructure environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting the IBM z/OS Operating system, utilizing IBM Hardware and ISV software using SMP/E, z/OSMF, JCL, HCD, and HMC; and upgrading existing operating systems and ISV software to the new version on mainframe, and troubleshooting performance problems using RMF, SMF and SAS.
DE designing and developing the Mainframe Automation and modernization using Netview and System Automaton and Scripting languages – Rexx, Python, XML, JSON, and Ansible.
DE performing storage replication support; provisioning replication hardware and software infrastructure using IBM SMS, HSM, RMM, EMC SRDF, upgrading existing replication environments to new versions on mainframes; and troubleshooting replication related issues, using SMPE, ISPF, JCL, REXX, SDSF and HCD.
DE designing and developing communications for DB2 and CICS applications using TCPIP/VTAM, enabling cross communication and implementing high availability for mainframe applications using Parallel sysplex; Monitoring mainframe DB2 and CICS environments utilizing TSO/ISPF/SAS and creating batch jobs using JCL and REXX routines to Monitor the Mainframe Health.
