Job Description:

The Team

In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering the business and data analysis necessary to define detailed requirements for data providers across Fidelity. As a Senior Manager of Data Quality and Operations within our Asset Management Business & Data Operations (AMBDO) team, you will partner with business and technology professionals to enable the implementation of new technologies, techniques, and datasets consumed by Investment Professionals in generating alpha for our investment products and customers. Your efforts will help elevate organizational data proficiency and support targeted data initiatives that require deep analysis and strategic thinking. Collaborating closely with business stakeholders and Asset Management Technology partners, you will help enhance program efficiency by driving improvements in data quality, risk mitigation, and scalability. You’ll also engage with leaders across Asset Management and key partners throughout Fidelity to advance the goals of our Data Quality program.

The ideal candidate is someone with a data-driven mindset and strong technical proficiency, including experience with SQL, Python or R and advanced data handling skills. They should understand the critical role high-quality data plays throughout the investment lifecycle and thrive in a fast-paced environment. A background in technology is a plus, as this role serves as a bridge between business and technology teams. The candidate must be capable of extracting insights from large data sets and translating those insights into actionable recommendations to enhance the accuracy and overall quality of our data ecosystem.

The team is comprised of a diverse set of business and technology professionals who work collectively with our business partners to align on strategic solutions to business and data operational challenges across asset management.

The Expertise You Have

  • BA/BS Business/MIS/Computer Sciences or equivalent required

  • Relevant experience with or exposure to enterprise data quality monitoring, leveraging analytics to drive business strategy

  • Experience in identifying anomalies and patterns in data

  • Deep experience in data science, SQL, and Python / R skills

  • Experience in systems and/or data management. risk, compliance, financial services experience a plus.

  • Experience in managing/monitoring data platforms with data driven objectives and with the ability to synthesize large sets of data

  • Ability to understand data models, data taxonomy and a deep appreciation of data standards and data quality.

  • Experience in data management, data implementation and data technology implementations.

  • Experience in working with developers to decompose existing processes and recommend changes to systems design to achieve requirements.

  • Experience with Agile principles and methodology – including crafting roadmaps, grooming backlogs, defining requirements, and structuring work into valuable increments - with a focus on continuous integration, delivery, and inspiring change.

  • Perform data analytics to help solve business challenges and achieve data automation, reconciliation, traceability, lineage, and transparency.

  • Use data analytics to provide actionable, timely and accurate data to drive business insights around technology enablement, digital transformation, and enterprise intelligence.

  • Outstanding relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills

  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong communication (both oral and written), presentation and interpersonal skills that enable partnership across a wide range of stakeholders including business and technology

  • Experience working across organizations to bring disparate teams together by collaborating with others in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and dynamic environment

  • Self-starter who can work independently in a challenging situation

  • Ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks

  • Strong SQL skills or capacity to learn quickly; familiarity with other analytic technologies a plus (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, Python, BRIO, Tableau, Adobe Analytics)

  • Establish knowledge and fluency in data analytics methodologies within AM and assist in equipping the team with data analysis tools to analyze large datasets

  • Present reports and findings to senior level technical and non-technical audiences

  • Provide thought leadership in data governance and maintaining evolving expertise in data governance best practices

  • Support the framework, to ensure Fidelity’s data is of high quality and managed within a sound controls environment

The Skills You Bring

  • Ability to process unstructured / alternative data sets

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • You have knowledge in monitoring Data Pipelines, Data Lineage, mapping data, transform data, and to load data in various data stores like Oracle, Snowflake, S3, and / or shared drives.

  • You are familiar or willing to learn web scraping techniques

  • You are comfortable working with internal and external stakeholders to remediate potential data issues and introduce control protocols intended to mitigate risk as a part of our Data Quality oversight framework

So you have the basic skills we are looking for – here are some of the additional skills that will differentiate you and make you the ideal candidate:

  • Knowledge in Web Scraping, extracting text from HTML

  • Knowledge in RDBMS, ODBC, JDBC, and ODP.Net

  • Knowledge in Bloomberg or FactSet

  • Knowledge or willing to learn financial concepts like Company Structure, Financial Metrics, and M&A is a plus

Most roles at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles.
