The Asset Management Compliance, Risk and Business Operations (CRBO) group comprises the following teams: AM Compliance, AM Risk, Business Operations and Strategy, Counterparty Research & Analytics, Investment Services and Strategic Business Initiatives. The Position
The Director of Investment Architecture (IA) will play a meaningful role in connecting and integrating the investment processes supporting Fidelity Liquid Alternative (LA) portfolios with the technology infrastructure required to implement investment strategies and decisions at scale. Working closely with Fidelity Asset Management (AM) investment and technology partners, the position will participate in/lead projects of various size and complexity, including product/platform development and enhancement. The business value that the Director of IA will be asked to help unlock centers on expanding foundational investment management capabilities for Fidelity’s Liquid Alts funds and portfolio managers.
Position Responsibilities
- Build a deep understanding of the Liquid Alternative investment processes to become an advocate for the team in technology and operations focused meetings
- Be responsible for the creation of requirements for LA focused technology projects and partner with technology to create milestones for implementation
- Define and document key investment processes by partnering with AM Investment Services, investment professionals, and technology to help drive development requirements
- Identify and lead enhancements across phases of development (i.e., idea to prototype to an enterprise-supported application) as appropriate
- Create a long-term capabilities roadmap to optimally sequence requirements for Fidelity’s LA funds
- Become well versed on LA portfolio and holdings data to create better alignment between data management and investment processes
- Drive automation opportunities for improved scale and efficiency
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- 8+ years in investment management or consulting industries with a focus on liquid alternative strategies
- Bachelor’s degree along with CFA (in progress or completed) preferred
- Exceptional analytical, communication, conceptual thinking, project management and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and simultaneously managing several projects
- Ability to successfully navigate across the organization, build strong working relationships with key business partners, and develop a strong professional network
- Solid ability to synthesize complex ideas into easy-to-understand materials and balance ideal long run vision with the short-term practical implementation
- Demonstrated experience thinking end-to-end about investment processes and workflows
- Self-starter who can work independently in a challenging situation
- Creative problem-solver with a curiosity to foster advances in automation, AI, and machine learning
- Customer-focused approach to engagement with business partners
- High attention to detail
- Strong leadership skills
- Working knowledge of complex instrument types (e.g., Futures, Options, Equity TRS, CDX, IRS, FX Forwards, Swaptions, etc.) and familiarity with derivative lifecycle events including settlements, collateral, clearing, pricing, and related reference data is a plus
