The Department

Strategic Advisers, LLC (SAI) is a registered investment advisor and wholly owned subsidiary of FMR LLC that provides investment management services to clients through Fidelity’s retail and institutional distribution channels. For more than 35 years, SAI has specialized in the design, construction and management of asset allocation solutions, as well as the methodologies for many of Fidelity’s investment planning tools, to help investors reach their financial goals. With over to $1 trillion in assets under management in a blend of Fidelity and third-party investment vehicles, the SAI team of investment professionals constructs and manages asset allocation portfolios for more than 3.5 million customer accounts.

The Role

We’re seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join our Private Markets Investment Team. In this role, you will support our expanding private market offerings by developing quantitative models and data-driven analyses that inform the management of private asset funds.

You’ll collaborate within the investment organization to support our growing private market strategies. Projects will focus on liquidity management, portfolio construction, and risk modeling, employing large-scale datasets and statistical techniques to enhance decision-making.

Ideal candidates are intellectually curious, collaborative, and skilled in quantitative modeling, programming, and financial analytics. You should be able to translate investment needs into clear, actionable projects and communicate ideas effectively to diverse audiences.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Working within the private markets investment team, you will develop quantitative models and analytical tools to support portfolio construction and investment decisions for SAI’s private market funds. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing risk-adjusted performance across private equity, private credit, and private real assets. Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain cash flow forecasting models at fund and security levels across private asset classes.
  • Design liquidity management frameworks to optimize capital calls, distributions, deal flow, and credit line usage.
  • Create rebalancing strategies that account for liquidity constraints, fund schedules, and client fairness.
  • Provide rebalancing guidance under varying market conditions, including DIY investor support.
  • Enhance and integrate private asset risk models into enterprise systems; validate against third-party models.
  • Conduct custom risk analyses (e.g., stress tests, scenario analysis) to inform investment decisions.
  • Contribute to the design of a private asset risk framework and its impact on portfolio construction.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative investment research (e.g. portfolio optimization, portfolio construction, and risk modeling) roles, specifically for a multi asset class investment processes.
  • Quantitative research experience in private markets is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent empirical research and a willingness to identify and present new research ideas.
  • Graduate degree in a related field (Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.) preferred
  • CFA or CAIA is a plus.
The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000 per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
