The Role

The Benefits Manager is an important member of the Health benefits team. You will collaborate with other members of the broader Benefits Team, including partners on the Health, Financial, and Work Life teams in supporting the overall design and delivery of a market-leading benefits package that we continually reimagine to meet the needs of associates, now and in the future. You will also partner with other internal business partners, including Legal, Procurement, and Workplace Investing.

Your role includes various projects and tasks that contribute to the design, implementation, and ongoing administration of the health and welfare benefits program. This position includes responsibility for positively influencing the associate experience, ensuring plan compliance, and managing vendor relationships and contracts.

You will participate in and support multiple strategic projects, including Annual Enrollment and Benefit Experience Tours, RFPs/market scans and plan audits, program implementations, and ongoing vendor review meetings.

You will also have responsibility for the day-to-day operational execution of the benefits plans, including annual legal plan filings, management of content on the benefits intranet site and other benefits communications, data feeds and eligibility file processes, and support for operational issues and member concerns.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring:

  • Demonstrated experience managing health & welfare plans and associated vendors, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy benefit programs in a large corporate environment

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and pivot between multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting critical and timely deadlines

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and across various business units, and to build and maintain working relationships to deliver results in a professional manner

  • Experience in project management and implementing new benefits or improvements to existing programs

  • Experience in managing vendor performance and contracts/service level agreements

  • Solid understanding of employer benefits design, benefits administration, and working knowledge of HIPAA, ACA, ERISA, and COBRA guidelines and practices and the ability to apply the same to day-to-day work as well as large initiatives

  • Experience handling eligibility feeds and data files

  • Ability to respond to associate questions with empathy; support resolution of situations timely and while protecting the integrity of the plan

  • Experience managing operational issues and processes, and assessing opportunities for mitigating risks, increasing efficiencies, and improving quality and process

  • Demonstrate critical thinking capabilities and be able to translate those ideas into actions through the projects you are supporting

  • Possess the intellectual curiosity to stay on top of the ever-evolving benefits market landscape to assess and evaluate emerging solutions for our suite of benefits

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and financial skills

  • Assist with various projects; and other duties as assigned

The Team

The Benefits team is a small but powerful team. We are part of the Human Resources function, and our job is to ensure that associate benefit offerings are delivering value to our associates, their families and Fidelity. We listen to associate feedback, benchmark the competition, and then measure every one of the 50+ programs for which we are responsible.

The base salary range for this position is $74,000-141,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
