The Role
As the SVP and Head of AI/ML Technology, you will oversee the execution of the company's AI strategy. Your responsibilities include establishing the vision for an Enterprise AI/ML Platform that encompasses every stage of the Model Development Life Cycle (MDLC), from initial experimentation through to production. Additionally, you will guide the development and deployment of standardized Core & Common AI Solutions – reusable services designed to deliver measurable business value. Achieving success means enabling secure, ethical, and impactful AI deployment throughout the organization. This position requires a technology leader who brings both engineering and product perspectives to enterprise-level artificial intelligence and machine learning infrastructure. You will ensure Fidelity can securely discover, develop, deploy, and oversee models at scale across the company.
This position reports directly to the SVP & CIO, Global Head of Enterprise Data and AI. The preferred locations for this role are Boston, MA; Westlake, TX; or Durham, NC, though flexibility will be considered for highly qualified candidates.
Your responsibilities include:
Enterprise AI/ML Platform: Own the vision, build, and scale of the AI/ML platform with sophisticated MLOps practice that empowers Data Scientists and ML Engineers with best-in-class capabilities for feature stores, distributed training, experiment tracking, and automated deployment.
MDLC Governance Technology: Implement the necessary technology controls for Model Observability and Governance, ensuring transparency, drift detection, and compliance across the entire model portfolio.
Core AI Solutions Delivery: Lead the team building and managing reusable, high-value AI services (e.g., Speech-To-Text, OCR, Document Intelligence, Natural Language Understanding) that are consumed by multiple business applications.
Innovation & Future Tech: Constantly evaluate emerging AI/ML technologies (e.g., Generative AI infrastructure, large language model deployment strategies) to incorporate into the enterprise roadmap.
Stakeholder Alignment: Partner closely with AI leaders and CIOs across different Business Units to ensure technology enables, rather than hinders, policy execution.
Operational Excellence: Establish rigorous Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and run the Platform Operations function, ensuring 24/7 availability and rapid incident resolution for all mission-critical workloads.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced STEM degree preferred.
15 + years of general experience and 10+ years of experience in leading teams with data engineers, software engineers, cloud architects, and ML Engineers (or data scientists) to deliver advanced analytics work products.
Hands-on experience building and operationalizing an Enterprise scale AI/ML platform capable of handling hundreds or thousands of production models.
Proven track record delivering industrialized, common AI services in a regulated environment.
Ability to drive organizational change by embedding AI/ML practices directly into core technology delivery teams.
Experience with major cloud platforms such as Snowflake and AWS (or other public cloud).
Capability to drive open-source implementation, public cloud development environment with hands-on experience with development operations, automation, and testing technologies.
Strong executive communication & leadership presence, engaging with executive leadership (C-Suite) are required to frequently participate in core initiatives and has broad exposure to executive leadership.
Consistent record of operations collaboration and delivery with the ability to build key relationships and influence business partners on enterprise objectives.
Ability to challenge the status quo and facilitate the exchange and creation of ideas to address business challenges and improve performance.
Excellent talent skills and agile operating model experience with ability to develop impactful teams by setting clear goals and holding self and others accountable to standards of excellence.
Strategically minded; enabling ability to lead the development and implementation of an enterprise strategy and achieve financial and growth goals.
The Team
You will serve as a senior leader within the Enterprise Technology team, reporting to the Global Head of Enterprise Data and AI function. In this role, you will collaborate with various Business Units, CIOs, Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Analytics Platform, and AI/ML Solutions teams to drive meaningful impact and foster innovation across the $16+ trillion global financial ecosystem.
Focus on enterprise technology platform capability delivery working with leaders and teams across the enterprise in a collaborative way to ensure digitization strategies are advanced. Much of the work completed must be done in conjunction with technology and operations teams in the businesses.
The base salary range for this position is $185,000-$400,000 per year.Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
