The Role

We are seeking an experienced Facilities and Operation Building Engineer to join a team that services and maintains critical building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. As a member of Fidelity’s Engineering Operations team, you will be directly responsible for ensuring that equipment operates reliably, and the uptime of the facility is supported. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll be self-performing or overseeing vendor-performed maintenance on critical equipment serving mission critical rooms and offices. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, commercial experience, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Key responsibilities:

  • Performs all preventive and remedial maintenance work on building mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems to ensure critical distribution systems including the chiller plant, generators and UPS requirements are met with minimal adverse business impact.
  • Demonstrates the ability to monitor multiple building systems, correcting deficient performance through Building Management System adjustments, on-site remedial maintenance and effective emergency response actions when required.
  • Direct and assist as necessary vendors/contractors as they perform remedial repair activities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with and provide assistance to the engineering staff.
  • Utilizes tools, processes, procedures, and notifies/advises superiors as appropriate to ensure the consistent flow of information and activities.
  • Complete daily log entries / update engineering staff via email.
  • Assist with all department projects, plans and improvements.
  • Support Fidelity’s ISO-14001 Environmental Management System, ISO-27001 Information Security Management and SSAE-16/18 regulatory reporting requirements
  • Demonstrates the ability to employ both an electrical riser and one-line diagrams to locate, employ or correct faulty electrical circuits and related protective devices.
  • Completing all critical maintenance on time and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to be on-call or work extended hours as needed.

The Expertise You Bring

  • High School diploma, GED, trade school or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of related facilities experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a mission critical environment a plus
  • Experience with any or all Building Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing or Controls systems.
  • Licensed HVAC/Refrigeration or Electrical is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction documents and O&M manuals.
  • Your knowledge of computer applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, CMMS and BMS systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical industry standards, protocols, installations, and best trade practices, along with a working knowledge of electrical, fire safety and IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to develop and maintain procedures such as SOP, MOP etc.
  • You are highly organized and diligent in balancing maintenance priorities and procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • Comfortable working on rooftops and ladders

The Team

The Engineering Team is responsible for the 365/24/7 monitoring/triage and maintenance for all critical infrastructure systems. The team works to ensure equipment operates reliably, and the uptime for all facilities is supported.

The base salary range for this position is $60,000-115,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
