FinTech Sandbox, prominent leader in the fintech ecosystem, is a nonprofit that enables fintech startups around the world to build incredible products and applications, by providing free access to essential data and resources needed to launch their companies. We seek to lower the barriers to entry for fintech founders and facilitate innovation by working with early-stage startups, premier data providers, financial institutions, and leading VCs to increase access to critical resources for startups and build connections across the fintech ecosystem.
About the position: We are looking for a Partnerships Director to join our team and help the company continue to support its corporate sponsors and grow our revenue. Reporting directly to the Executive Director and working in partnership with the Executive Director and Board, the Partnerships Director is a critical role for the organization and will be responsible for the strategic growth of the company.
As a non-profit, corporate sponsorship is our primary revenue stream. FinTech Sandbox has incredible, long-standing partners, such as Fidelity, MassMutual, EY, and more. This role would sit at the center of our work building connections across the fintech ecosystem and fostering partnerships between FinTech Sandbox, the portfolio of startups we work with, and our partners, which include financial institutions, investors, data providers, and technology companies.
Our Partnerships Director would:
● Own & manage all corporate sponsor relationships - Manage full cycle of sponsor relationships, including identifying leads,negotiating contracts, onboarding, regular touch-points with existing partners, and retention. You will be the main point of contact for current and prospective sponsors. ● Grow Fintech Sandbox’s sponsorship base - Own strategy and execution of identifying, sourcing, and closing new sponsors to grow FinTech Sandbox’s impact. Propose new potential revenue streams and sponsorship opportunities, aligned to industry trends and FinTech Sandbox’s core mission. ● Build trusted Executive relationships - Become a go-to contact for senior leaders and teams across fintech and financial services, to help them meet their strategic goals and find core opportunities and connections through the FinTech Sandbox partnership. ● Develop new partnership opportunities/packages - Work with the Executive Director to develop and propose new opportunities for partnerships, including identifying untapped partnership offerings, developing new sponsor tiers, updating and restructuring contracts as needed, working with sponsors to meet their evolving goals. Continually assess and refine the FinTech Sandbox messaging and value proposition to our corporate partners. ● Help set partnerships and revenue targets - Work closely with the Executive Director and Governance Board to develop, track, and report revenue targets and partnerships KPIs.
● Promote the FinTech Sandbox brand - Expand the brand and awareness across existing and future target markets. Be a public and vocal ambassador of FinTech Sandbox, by sharing industry insights, speaking at public events and conferences, and using social media to gain sponsorship interest. ● Track and report on goals and metrics - Build out and manage sales pipeline via CRM and spreadsheets to track and report on sponsorship funnel, revenue targets, manage relationships, and present updates to the team and Board as needed.
Qualifications ● 5+ years of experience in sales or partnerships for an early-stage startup, small company, and/or nonprofit. Strong understanding of the need to be resourceful, autonomous, and driven selling in a lean, nimble company ● Knowledgeable and up-to-date on fintech and financial services trends ● Comfortable and confident selling an intangible product - a collaborative partnership, mission, and vision ● Experienced in managing the full partnership cycle on your own - developing the partnership offerings, identifying and reaching out to leads, negotiating the partnership agreements, onboarding, managing the ongoing relationship, etc. ● Organized and metrics driven partnership approach ● Charismatic personality, who can inspire & energize the room and is motivated by helping the partners and team reach goals ● Experience managing and building sales pipelines within CRM platforms such as HubSpot or Salesforce ● Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively and build relationships with senior and executive stakeholders ● Light travel to meet with partners and attend events expected ● Ability to work autonomously and be self-sufficient. ● Willing to roll up your sleeves and help with anything that may come up
