Data Partner Manager

Location: Strong preference for Boston or New York City areas

Note: This is a part-time, exempt position. Ideal for someone looking for a more flexible arrangement for their next career opportunity. We anticipate approximately 25 hours per week.

About the Company:

Fintech Sandbox is a prominent leader of the fintech ecosystem whose mission is to advance financial innovation and remove barriers for fintech entrepreneurs. We appreciate that the cost and access to data are major challenges for fintech startups, and we’ve brought together some of the world’s leading data providers and financial institutions to solve this problem through our Data Access Residency. In addition to supporting fintech startups, we endeavor to strengthen the fintech innovation ecosystem with other opportunities for interaction within the wider community.

The Fintech Sandbox team is proud of the startups we’ve impacted and the community we’ve built, and we’re excited for our new Data Partner Manager to help us build even more!

We are looking for a Data Partner Manager to join our team to lead our efforts on providing data access and technology expertise to our community of more than 360 startups around the world. Fintech Sandbox is a non-profit that helps entrepreneurs grow their businesses by offering free or deeply discounted access to a robust set of data feeds and APIs, customer introductions, cloud hosting and infrastructure solutions, and a vibrant community of entrepreneurs, mentors, data partners, potential investors, potential customers and service providers who simply want to help them succeed.

Our Data Partner Manager would:

  • Be responsible for data provider engagement – We currently have more than 40 data partners (including Moody’s, Factset, Morningstar, S&P, Plaid, Transunion, etc.). This person would build influential relationships with key operational and executive contacts at each firm.
  • Advocate for the startups’ data access - Work with each data provider to develop a deeper understanding of the data sets available and negotiate for free access to the datasets that are key to Fintech Sandbox startups. Help the startups to navigate relationships and expectations with the data providers.
  • Develop new strategic data needs - This person would determine the critical data partners to engage in a new fintech model and manage relationships to ensure we have the right partners on board to meet our startup’s data needs across numerous use cases.
  • Onboard new data partners - This person would manage the onboarding of new data partners by working with marketing, operations, sales and product teams at the data partners.
  • Collect and report internal data metrics - Determine best feedback methods, collect data from startups and data providers, and provide data partners on product performance. Work with the Director of Partnerships to potentially monetize these reports.
  • Manage startups’ data “GiveBack” - We ask all of our startups to “Give Back” to their fellow startups by providing feedback, participating in our User Forum and sharing data best practices with one another. This role would evaluate the effectiveness of this program to date and build on that engagement.
  • Be the active voice on data trends - Keep our stakeholders updated on trends in technology and data that Sandbox residents use. You will see it all and identify patterns across startups, analyzing these trends to inform strategic direction. Additionally, you will distill findings into a clear, compelling narrative to share with stakeholders, setting the course by which all startups will contribute and grow the community.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of experience either managing relationships with financial data providers or managing financial data
  • Existing relationships with financial data providers
  • Strong understanding of and interest in fintech, financial services, and the data needs specific to this industry
  • Able to relate technical concepts to startups, data partners and other stakeholder groups of varying degrees of technical backgrounds

  • Strong understanding of mobile and cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging trends. Great problem-solving skills around technical, product, and business questions
