Job summary:

55ip’s Head of Quantitative Research & Development is looking for a hands-on and results-driven Lead Portfolio Analyst to play a key role in the evolution of 55ip’s core investment algorithms. The ideal candidate has worked closely with investment management teams, ensuring that portfolios are positioned in accordance with investment strategies and views, and that organizational and infrastructure capabilities are in place to support the portfolio management process.

Job responsibilities:

  • Manage a Portfolio Analytics team that includes mentoring, setting priorities, and backlog grooming.
  • Work with quantitative researchers and developers to support the evolution of its investment algorithms and the refinement of the research data, back-testing, simulation, and data visualization platforms.
  • Analyze algorithmic trade suggestions, positioning, risk metrics, etc. to ensure alignment with investment thesis and process, and recognize, evaluate, and reconcile any results that are inconsistent with strategy objectives.
  • Investigate datasets for use in new or existing algorithms.
  • Act as a liaison with investment teams to gather requirements and analyze test results.
  • Work closely with product management and technology teams.
  • Participate in governance practices to monitor and refine research methodologies.
  • Participate in agile practices and maintaining Jira backlog.

Required skills, qualfications and attributes:

  • BS (MS is a plus) in accounting/finance/economics/statistics
  • CFA and/or FRM, or currently in progress
  • Previous experience managing a small team.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor with empathy and with servant-leadership mindset.
  • Passion for financial markets and the investment management process.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to conceptualize and learn complex financial data.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work well under pressure while handling large workloads and short timelines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Team Player with a strong work ethic and a diligent, responsible personality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics, strong Excel skills and quantitative capabilities.
  • Capable of querying/analyzing data using SQL, Excel, and Tableau.
  • Familiarity with Python/R is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Barra One, Fact set, and Bloomberg is preferable.
