Job Description

The Opportunity:

The Variable Product Administration (VPA) team within Fund Administration is seeking an Assistant Manager position. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for the day to day operations including trading, asset allocation, reconciliation and reporting. The successful candidate will maintain processes and procedures, documentation and provide daily support for audit purposes. In addition, the incumbent will also work directly with the Custodian banks, Asset Allocation team, Fund Administration teams, and Manulife Investment Management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising the day-to-day workflow

  • Direct activities, assign responsibilities, set expectations, and empower team members toward achieving objectives.

  • Coordinate, monitor and approve daily balancing functions to ensure all key reconciliation details are completed within standard.

  • Assist team members with complex items and recommend resolutions.

  • Maintain proper documentation related to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements for annual Segregated Funds and IT audits. Review all audit requests for accuracy and completeness.

  • Ensure department procedural documentation is accurate and current. Assist in standardization and creation of procedures with assistance of Fund Administration Director

  • Analyze trends and recommend workflow changes and process improvements including system enhancements as required.

  • Assist Fund Administration Director to define and manage the scope, strategy and requirements of business initiatives

  • Provide effective communication with business partners across Fund Administration, the variable product administration and Marketing teams, Investment Management Services, Product Development, Legal and other departments as required by each initiative.

  • Represent business unit in corporate initiatives ensuring business unit needs are appropriately addressed.

  • Stay current on market and industry trends and new products, services and technologies affecting Fund Administration and the company.

  • Assist the MAST team in their rebalancing program including testing and implementing in production

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting.

  • 1-2 years of experience as an Analyst.

  • 3-5 years of financial services experience.

  • Accounting/Fund Administration experience.

  • Ability to work independently and set priorities with only high level direction.

  • Provide process improvement recommendations.

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable when dealing with change and multiple demands and competing priorities.

  • Strong problem solving skills, organizational skills with attention to detail.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

USA, Massachusetts - Full Time Remote

Salary range is expected to be between

$66,675.00 USD - $111,125.00 USD
