The job summary:

We are looking for a talented Editorial/Writer to join our John Hancock Marketing Team. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, writing, revising, and editing both short- and long-form collateral related to a wide range of financial services products. You will collaborate with various teams to deliver creative concepts that support marketing, sales, and business initiatives.

As a vital part of the larger US Insurance Marketing Team, this Editorial/Writer Manager plays an essential role within our marketing organization, which encompasses brand management, human-centered design, digital strategy, analytics, and integrated production. Together, we collaborate to craft our marketing narrative, deliver seamless customer experiences, and demonstrate the value of marketing to our business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Research, write, edit, and revise collateral for a variety of marketing and sales projects.
  • Collaborate with marketing managers, product owners, and graphic designers to develop creative concepts.
  • Work closely with the product teams, distribution partners, and digital/social teams to coordinate marketing projects.
  • Translate technical product information into easy-to-understand sales content.
  • Leverage research and data to enhance written communications.
  • Produce original content for a wide range of assignments, including marketing materials and thought leadership pieces.
  • Ensure all written communications align with the firm's brand voice and adhere to editorial guidelines.
  • Utilize various technologies and platforms to collaborate, write, and publish content in a digital environment.
  • Maintain professionalism consistent with a leading life insurance company.
  • Champion the needs of the reader by crafting content that effectively delivers the intended message.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of communications and incorporate findings into future projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial services writing is strongly preferred.
  • Passion for the financial services industry and a strong intellectual curiosity.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong information-gathering and analytical skills.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced degrees and industry licensing are a plus.
  • Ability to interact successfully with product teams and senior executives.

Salary range is expected to be between

$90,225.00 USD - $162,405.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
