This role offers a unique opportunity in operational risk and control practices within Affinity Markets, directly contributing to the organization's commitment to sound governance and risk management. The successful candidate will gain exposure to cross-functional teams, enhance their expertise in risk and compliance, and play a pivotal role in strengthening the organization’s control environment.
Position Responsibilities:
Ensure proper standards are established, maintained, and embedded across operational risk and control activities, including documentation, testing protocols, and issue management processes.
Execute components of the Operational Risk Management Framework by aligning regulatory requirements with control activities and leading ongoing testing and validation efforts.
Coordinate activities and facilitate the annual Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) in partnership with the Director, Processes & Controls and Risk teams, ensuring comprehensive documentation and effective challenge of risk assessments.
Project Management for compliance and risk-related initiatives, ensuring deliverables are met on time, while engaging relevant stakeholders throughout the process.
Lead the collection and consolidation of operational risk data (KPIs/KRIs) to enable accurate reporting and timely escalation of significant findings to leadership and control functions.
Lead operational control reviews, evaluate control effectiveness, report recommendations for improvement to strengthen the control environment.
Maintain visibility into risk and control issues within the business/function, including those identified through audits, incidents, or self-assessments, and support resolution efforts.
Lead deep dive analysis into operational risk incidents and errors, identifying root causes and recommending enhancements to preventive and detective controls.
Participate in various meetings related to operational risk and control matters impacting Affinity Markets, ensuring relevant updates and insights are communicated effectively.
Maintain audit readiness and ensure regulatory changes impacting Affinity Markets are tracked, and documented.
Identify requirements for process automation opportunities and recommend appropriate tools and solutions to streamline controls and reduce operational risk.
Required Qualifications:
Deep understanding of process design and optimization methodologies, and internal controls frameworks
Proficient in using tools such as Visio or other process mapping/documentation platforms to visualize and improve workflows
Experience with audit methodologies and ability to ensure audit readiness through robust process documentation and control testing
Solid experience in Business Analysis and Project Management, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
Familiarity with operational environments such as individual/group insurance or similar complex business functions

Salary range is expected to be between
$86,250.00 CAD - $155,250.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
