As a Senior Data Science Director, you will lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics solutions that drive strategic decision-making and business transformation. This role oversees complex, high-impact projects, guiding teams of data scientists and engineers to deliver predictive and prescriptive insights. You will translate sophisticated data analyses into actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders, influence adoption of analytics-driven strategies, and ensure measurable business outcomes. With expertise in big data platforms, advanced modeling, and strong leadership skills, you will shape the organization’s data science vision while fostering innovation and talent development.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements analytics enabled solutions to improve business process, to generate insights, support business goals and strategy development▪ Owns and delivers projects of complex scope.
- Directs the work of more junior data scientists and data engineers.
- Works on problems of the highest scope / complexity where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of a variety of factors
- Strong ability to generate relevant, actionable insights based on iterative data analysis, translate data-driven output into business language, and to make appropriate recommendations to respective business stakeholders
- Leads more junior data scientist's analysis on datasets of significant complexity.
- Measure and communicate analytic results & impact of analytic models
- Speaker at external conferences Actively involved in recruitment of data science professionals (campus etc)
- Owns and manage end to end process from data to insight delivery and is responsible for lifting insight generation to predictive & prescriptive level.
- Owns and delivers projects of complex scope and directs the work of more junior BA specialists.
Required Qualifications:
- Generally, an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline with 8+ years’ experience or a combination of education or experience
- Advanced experience in R, SAS, SQL, Java, VBA
- Masters or above
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Big Data Platforms
- Ability to influence key stakeholders in the adoption of analytics solutions.
- Strong knowledge of the business/Understands the political landscape and informal hierarchy within the firm

Salary range is expected to be between
$127,330.00 USD - $236,470.00 USDIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
