As an Automation Engineer Co-op, you'll help identify opportunities to simplify, streamline, and automate business and operational processes across the organization. Working closely with business stakeholders and technology teams, you'll analyze current workflows, uncover inefficiencies, and develop automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve productivity. Through continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives, you'll help enable teams to spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time on high-value work.

We are currently looking for highly motivated students to join us in our Toronto, Ontario, Canada office for a 12-month co-op term running from January 5, 2027 through December 16, 2027. This is a hybrid position where you will be expected to work in the office on designated in-office days.


Position Responsibilities

  • Analyze business and operational processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and automation opportunities.
  • Document current-state workflows and support the design of future-state automated processes.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and understand operational challenges.
  • Design, develop, test, and support automation solutions using approved platforms and tools.
  • Build workflows, integrations, dashboards, and reporting solutions that improve productivity and business outcomes.
  • Monitor solution performance and identify opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, user guides, and technical documentation.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and analysis efforts to evaluate the impact of automation initiatives.
  • Research emerging automation, artificial intelligence, and productivity technologies and share recommendations with the team.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, operational excellence, and digital transformation initiatives across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Technology Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Understanding of process improvement, workflow design, business analysis, or operational efficiency concepts.
  • Familiarity with automation and low-code technologies such as Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate, or Power Apps.
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, or SQL.
  • Exposure to programming or scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, or similar.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience gained through academic projects, internships, hackathons, extracurricular activities, or personal projects involving automation or process improvement.
  • Exposure to Generative AI technologies such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with process mapping and workflow visualization tools such as Visio.
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, or data visualizations using Power BI or similar tools.
  • Understanding of APIs, system integrations, data connectors, or automation architecture concepts.
  • Interest in continuous improvement, operational excellence, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
