The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

This role has a hybrid work schedule (2 days per week in the office) and we will only consider candidates based in Boston, MA / Plano, TX / Portsmouth, NH / Columbus, OH.

Job introduction:

The Global Cybersecurity organization is looking to hire a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to be part of their BISO team. Under general direction, and supported by light coaching and mentorship, this candidate will work with an innovative security solution within Liberty Mutual's physical data centers and cloud environments. The candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and monitoring the organization's overall security posture. He/She will partner with teams across the company to continually optimize our security posture while maintaining a hyper-focus on the reliability and stability of our business environments.

About the role:

  • Support secure application development initiatives requiring innovation, automation, and integration.
  • Collaborate with developers and engineers in the US Retail Market (USRM) to produce secure applications and implement cybersecurity controls.
  • Manages, develops, deploys, and supports security solutions globally to include regional data centers, Liberty Mutual local offices, and cloud environments.
  • Supports security incidents, service delivery, technology configuration and lifecycle, and technical security investigations and forensic collection.
  • Serves as a leading team member supporting security projects or subprojects of increasing complexity.
  • Acts as a leading member of an agile team focused on providing support to the analysis, system design, documentation, testing, and implementation of complex security operations and processes.
  • Provides cybersecurity consultation services to business operations, key business decisions, and technology implications within a single business process.
  • Identifies business process improvements that address complex functional and technology gaps within a single business process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience, technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years of Information Technology experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of Cybersecurity experience.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, .NET, Java, or similar.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Security+ or comparable certification/experience is required (must obtain within 6 months if not possessed).
  • Increasing levels of responsibility, including hands-on experience with cloud security, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Proficient and expert in cybersecurity technologies, IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies, as well as security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communications, and network protocols.
  • Leader within agile working environments to include both SCRUM and KANBAN.
  • Expert proficiency in dimensional and lateral thinking, application delivery, system and technology integration, system software infrastructure, and workplace adaptability.
  • Industry cybersecurity and/or technology certifications are preferred
  • SANS Certifications, ideally GCIH, GCFE, GREM, GCFA; CSSLP preferred
  • Secure Software Programmer Java; GWEB Certified web application defender; CASE Java preferred.
  • .NET Certified Application Security Engineer Java; CASS Certified Application Security Specialist.
  • Collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required.
  • Negotiation skills; oral and written communication skills.
  • Expert consultative skills, including the ability to understand and assist in applying customer requirements.
