The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
Liberty Mutual’s Global Brand & Communications organization is focused on building, stewarding, and protecting our brand and reputation and helping colleagues feel inspired, connected and informed on the company’s strategy. The Director II, Enterprise Communications, is responsible for supporting the communications strategy for the Global Risk Solutions (GRS) business and leading a team of strategic communications consultants who deliver high impact communications that help keep employees inspired, connected, and informed to enable the company to fulfill its promises to our clients.
The ideal candidate will balance directing the communications deliverables of the consultant team while directly supporting the integrated communications needs for members of the GRS Leadership Team. This role will support a holistic GRS communications strategy and apply that framework to communications for the GRS leadership team while ensuring alignment with the enterprise strategy. This role will co-report to the VP of Global Engagement Strategy, GRS and the VP of Enterprise Communications, Global Brand & Communications.
Responsibilities:
- Influences the communications strategy for the GRS business and owns the execution for all integrated communications programs originating at the leadership team level.
- Collaborates with senior executives to translate business priorities into strategic communications plans.
- Determines and implements the most effective, efficient, and impactful methods and channels to achieve communication objectives.
- Develops internal communications for strategic and complex GRS-wide initiatives including change communications, business transformation and related organizational announcements with significant impact.
- Ensures that all business segment and functional communications plans ladder up to the GRS-wide narrative and uses that horizontal GRS-wide view to influence messaging for their respective business partners.
- Engages with key stakeholders, including Creative, PR, Integrated Marketing and others across the Global Brand & Communications organization to produce and execute integrated communications plans.
- Uses data and insights to think through strategic plans on how to improve, enhance or innovate future communications. Continuously improving and finding opportunities to measure communication effectiveness.
- May work with aligned executives on a tailored executive engagement strategy to build their executive presence with key stakeholder groups.
- Defines the team’s performance objectives in partnership with GRS Business Alignment, GB&C and Business Partners.
- Refine the end-to-end editorial workflow for internal communications assignments. Ensure that there is a defined and efficient system in place where all stakeholders have a total view into planned communications and line of sight into the editing, review and approval path for all GRS communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Communications or related field). Master's degree preferred. 10+ years of relevant and progressively more responsible communications experience with 5 years in a leadership role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential.
- Ability to hone the voice for various C-level leaders across different mediums.
- Prior experience in financial services, commercial insurance or related industry is preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and an ability to deliver exceptional client service to the GRS executive team.
- Demonstrated experience managing communications teams in Fortune 500 company settings.
- Exceptional program management skills and the ability to organize, plan, execute enterprise communication strategies.
- Advanced knowledge of project management concepts, practices and techniques and the ability to promote a team environment. Strong change leadership who is customer focused and translates vision into actionable deliverables.
