Description

This role is a remote opportunity unless you are within 50 miles of the following locations: Boston MA, Portsmouth NH, Seattle WA, Indianapolis IN, Columbus OH, Plano TX. If so, this will be hybrid (2 days in office).

Summary:

We currently have an opening for a Manager, Category Strategy, who will be responsible for the support, development and advancement of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) for certain functional areas (Claims, Finance, Underwriting, etc.) across the enterprise within the Enterprise Business Process Solutions (EBPS) team.

You will be responsible for the development and advancement of BPO that support key business objectives/priorities and result in significant cost savings, service/quality, and process improvements for your assigned functional areas. This position will act as an advocate and change-manager for the value of EBPS for assigned Functional Areas by demonstrating BPO knowledge, adding value and educating stakeholders on Strategic Sourcing process. The role will work closely with key stakeholders to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implement plans with strong project management oversight. Additionally, this person will be responsible for building internal and external domain expertise and competitive intelligence insights for assigned functional areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships and work with key business partners to understand strategic direction, corporate business objectives and priorities, and technology roadmap within assigned Functional area(s).
  • Develop and execute outside-in analysis to identify potential outsourcing opportunities and present to stakeholders to gain buy in.
  • Work collaboratively with Functional Area and Business Group partners to review identified opportunities and prioritize those opportunities.
  • Develop sourcing strategies for each opportunity and lead/coordinate negotiation with BPO supplier(s).
  • Lead/participate in cross-functional teams in the development of sourcing strategies. Steps in the process include:
    • Internal assessments of Company, market trends, and supply base
    • Understanding of supplier economics, pricing models, operating structure between supplier and Liberty Mutual
    • Working closely with the stakeholders to establish and execute on the sourcing strategy, which will include development and implementation of internal assessments, current state modeling, and future state modeling to allow stakeholders to make an informed decision
  • Build reputation as a subject matter expert for BPO and assigned functional areas.
  • Develop Business case, which could include expense reduction, increased revenue, or loss reductions to gain buy in from Functional stakeholder and create execution plan.
  • Proactively understand supplier performance through disciplined and collaborative feedback channels with Vendor Operations and Vendor Management teams.
  • Provide guidance to Contract Managers and Vendor Management to create clarity on all contractual terms and conditions that were negotiated.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Business) or equivalent experience. At least 10 years’ experience in related field.
  • Deep understanding of Business Process Outsourcing, suppliers, and pricing factors.
  • Proven ability to effectively influence, collaborate, and partner with business leaders to drive results.
  • Exceptional analytic and negotiation skills.
  • Experience interacting with and defending positions with stakeholders and senior management.
  • Superior communications, interpersonal and presentation skills with strong influencing and persuasive abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop solutions to complex problems using ingenuity and innovation, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Expertise in MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of online sourcing tools (ideally Ariba), SharePoint, and Smartsheets.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma and Project Management methodologies.
