GRS Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LMRe) at Liberty Mutual is a $700M business, and is seeking an experienced, self-driven Software Engineer to join our GRS LMRe US Tech team, with significant opportunity to collaborate with our global teams. This role will join a high-performance, lean culture, with a continuous learning mindset.

You will be responsible for the implementation of solutions that support US technology operations and long-term strategies.

About the Job

  • Design, build, and maintain a portfolio of serverless and internally-built applications using AWS Native services, Spring Boot, and Spring MVC
  • Implement secure, scalable integrations across internal and external systems.
  • Write clean, testable code aligned with technical specifications.
  • Automate infrastructure deployments using CDK.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitHub Actions)
  • Collaborate with Tech Lead, Solution architects, and Product Owners to understand and deliver requirements.

    • Collaborative partner: Working with our team of scrum masters, product owners and fellow engineers, you’ll tackle technical challenges and ensure quality as we move from legacy technologies to next-generation applications
    • Comprehensive problem-solver: As you manage the end-to-end development of software products, you’ll analyze issues at the system level and handle any complications that arise by implementing effective solutions
    • Skilled technical engineer: You’ll document and lead the implementation of technical features, improvements and innovations
    • Forward thinker: Simply fixing the problem isn’t enough; using your proactive mindset and initiative, you’ll continually look for ways to improve performance, quality and efficiency

Qualifications

  • Three years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience with Java (Spring MVC, Spring Boot), JavaScript (NodeJS) TypeScript (Angular), Git/Github, Bootstrap, Oauth2, DynamoDB
  • Extensive understanding of Agile software development concepts and processes.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies: AWS, Azure, Lambdas
  • Experience with AWS Services such as API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, SNS and CloudWatch.
  • Familiarity with API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools/techniques & Dev Ops practices
  • Strong understanding of architecture patterns: serverless, microservice, event-driven
  • Strong programming discipline: unit testing, fault tolerance, data structures, complexity analysis, design patterns, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies and technical standards, cloud security and privacy policies
  • Extensive understanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and incremental delivery.
  • Strong collaboration, team first mentality, prioritization, and adaptability skills required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills
  • Proficient in negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills
  • Openness and adaptability to respond to fast-moving circumstances, growth mindset

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
