The US Retail Markets Data Science team brings together a diverse range of talent to predict future risk and what our customers will need to recover. Our data engineers write code that turns trillions of bits of information into structured data—data that our hundred-plus Data Scientists analyze with cutting-edge modeling techniques to unlock insights. From there, our tools and deployment teams ensure this data can be practically applied to business problems across US Retail Markets. The Data Science Infrastructure organization within USRM is hiring a Data Scientist for its Data Science Tools team. The Data Scientist role will sit within the Data Science Tools team of Infrastructure and be tasked with reengineering the way USRM Data Science approaches the entire modeling pipeline. Their primary goal will be to architect and construct modeling tools and pipelines to massively enhance the ease of iteration, evaluation, and deployment of models and thereby enhance the productivity of the entire USRM Data Science department by orders of magnitude. The objective of this role is to build tools and processes to empower other people. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly technical, and most importantly, driven by a desire to help others and push the boundaries of what we think is possible.

**Level of position offered will be based on skills and experience at manager discretion*

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement modeling tools and pipelines to massively enhance the ease of iteration, evaluation, and deployment of models
  • Develop strategies and roadmaps for how to push USRM Data Science expert teams to achieve dramatically improved processes
  • Build and maintain Python packages for use across the organization
  • Utilize pipelining tools such as Luigi, Airflow etc., modeling packages such as MLflow, h2o, sklearn, optuna, LightGBM etc, and Liberty Cloud offerings of Cortex and Runway
  • Follow Data Science and MLOps best practices in collaboration with Enterprise Data & Data Science
  • Keep up to date with the state-of-the-art developments in Data Science open-source frameworks and MLOps

Qualifications

  • Data extraction and manipulation skills, EDA, transformations, and general linear models (GLM); preferred skills of basic CART and GLM.
  • Foundational knowledge of predictive analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Has a value driven perspective with regard to understanding of work context and impact.
  • Competencies typically acquired through a Master`s degree (in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science or other scientific field of study) and no professional experience or may be acquired through a Bachelor`s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
