Description

As the Senior Director – Enterprise AI/ML Technology Product Management, you will lead a team of Product Managers driving Liberty Mutual’s next-generation AI/ML technology platform. Your products empower hundreds of data scientists, ML engineers, and software engineers to efficiently build, train, govern, and deploy advanced models that deliver measurable business value across the enterprise.

The Enterprise Data & Data Science (ED&DS) team was established to provide centralized product support and expertise to data science teams across our global organization. We focus on developing best-in-class AI/ML technologies, driving convergence in how AI/ML is executed at Liberty Mutual, and supporting enterprise AI programs. If you’re an experienced product leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, data science, technology, and execution—and you’re passionate about shaping the future of AI/ML at a Fortune 100 company—this is the opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities

Set Vision & Strategy: Define and evolve the enterprise AI/ML technology product strategy, aligning it with business objectives, change management, responsible AI expectations, and emerging industry trends.

Product Leadership (Platform & Tooling): Guide the creation and delivery of infrastructure, tooling, and platforms that enable scalable, secure, and efficient AI/ML model development and deployment. Drive productivity, sophistication, and speed outcomes in areas such as:

  • Model development & experimentation: notebook/IDE experience, experiment tracking, model registry, reusable templates
  • Training & compute enablement: scalable training patterns, environment provisioning, performance optimization, cost transparency
  • Deployment & serving: batch/real-time inference enablement, CI/CD for ML, rollout/rollback patterns, monitoring/observability
  • Prompt-based solutions enablement (where applicable): evaluation frameworks, version control, deployment, lifecycle management, governance and guardrails
  • Platform adoption & developer experience: documentation, enablement, self-service onboarding, internal community feedback loops

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence: Partner with data scientists, ML engineers, data engineers, software engineers, architecture, and technology leaders to translate enterprise needs into actionable roadmaps.

Portfolio & Investment Management: Lead prioritization and trade-off decisions across multiple product areas, ensuring resource alignment and delivery against strategic objectives. Shape investment proposals and executive communications that clearly articulate value, cost, risk, and adoption strategy.

Metrics & Impact: Establish and track KPIs to measure platform adoption, reliability, user satisfaction, efficiency, and business impact. Use data and user insights to guide continuous improvement and roadmap evolution.

People Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of product managers and dotted-line engineering teams; set a strong operating cadence and culture of customer focus, accountability, and learning. Act as a change agent and leader for our 1000+ person Data Science community across Liberty Mutual.

What You Bring

  • Visionary, Customer-Centric Leadership: Connects technical depth with strategic foresight to shape our enterprise AI/ML roadmap. Starts from user needs and painpoints and shapes them into actionable plans forward.
  • Strong Talent Development: Brings experience and passion to shaping the next generation of product and data science leaders at our company.
  • Deep AI/ML Understanding: Strong grasp of MLOps and data science infrastructure, including the organizational challenges of scaling AI/ML solutions across multiple teams.
  • Platform Product Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading large-scale technology platforms or infrastructure products, ideally serving technical users (DS/ML Eng/Software Eng).
  • Strategic Agility: Ability to make data-informed decisions amid ambiguity, and to drive clarity and alignment across competing priorities.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Strong track record of influencing across a complex organization, aligning stakeholders with different incentives and constraints.
  • Execution Excellence: Ability to translate strategy into delivery through strong roadmapping, dependency management, and operating rhythms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with 15+ years of related experience in data/data science or technology product management
  • Prior experience effectively managing large teams
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Preferred: Experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks, AWS, and/or Airflow in enterprise data/AI environments
  • Preferred: Experience working in Financial Services (or similarly regulated environment) within a large, matrixed organization
