Description

Join Liberty Mutual’s Experience & Strategy team as a Product Owner supporting the delivery of the modern new Q&I sales experiences for our Independent Agent go-to-market channel. You’ll own a portion of the new Q&I sales platform used by thousands of independent agents, defining, optimizing, and growing scope over time.

Reporting to the Director, Product Owner, you’ll be part of the I Buy / I Sell Insurance Professional portfolio focused on delivering a best-in-class sales experience through accurate, transparent, and efficient quotes. You’ll partner across product, engineering, design, compliance, and operations to build modern, scalable sales experiences. If you care about designing best-in-class and innovative sales experiences that delight agents, improve accuracy, and drive operational efficiency, this role is a strong match.

Why this role matters

  • High-impact work: influence a new sales platform (new Q&I) used across our Independent Agent channel. Ground-floor opportunity to define and optimize redesigned sales experience for personal lines products.
  • High visibility, cross-functional influence, and the ability to shape product direction and user outcomes prior to engineering execution.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: partner closely with business leaders, engineers, architects, compliance, research, and UX to translate customer needs into delivered product.
  • Career growth: work in an agile environment within a large enterprise portfolio; develop strategic product skills, stakeholder management, and domain expertise in personal lines.
  • Data-driven delivery: define and measure product KPIs and build monitoring to ensure long-term product health and ecosystem stability

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong strategy and visioning: To become independent agents' carrier system of choice, you dream big and act boldly by listening to agents, incorporating business objectives, and articulating a clear strategy.
  • Curiosity and tenacity: In service of implementing the best solutions for agents and business, you deeply understand opportunities and rally cross-functional teams to execute.
  • Analytical foundation: Data informs and supports your work, and you recognize that a data-driven mindset is imperative to identify and solve problems on a scale.
  • Comfort in ambiguity: You are a self-starter and a leader, impacting business and experience outcomes through collaboration.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills: You are a strong storyteller with the ability to influence both executive and technical audiences, while breaking down complexity through both written and verbal communications.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and communicate product vision and strategy for your scope of the sales experience, aligned to portfolio and organizational priorities.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog; write clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria that enable engineering to deliver business value.
  • Translate customer problems and business objectives into actionable work, focusing the squad on the highest-value outcomes.
  • Collaborate daily with the Agile squad—product designers, engineers, QA, and business SMEs—to clarify requirements, remove roadblocks, and keep delivery aligned to strategy.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement across business, technology, and executive leadership to set expectations for timelines, capabilities, and trade-offs.
  • Drive planning activities: participate in team and portfolio quarterly planning, demos, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies.
  • Establish and monitor product KPIs and health metrics; design observability where needed and proactively assess impacts on the broader ecosystem.
  • Analyze feasibility, cost of delay, and economic trade-offs to support prioritization and decision-making.
  • Ensure products comply with regulatory, compliance, and industry constraints; negotiate aligned priorities with internal and external squads/teams.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management as typically acquired through a Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, humanities etc.) and a minimum of 3 to 5 years direct experience with agile teams as well as 7 years in business, technology, or consulting.
  • Able to depict and explain the importance of complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; educate SBU/department(s) on business vision and plan and the impact of change.
  • Able to influence a diverse group of stakeholders; strong leadership skills. Able to make difficult and quick decisions daily.
