The Position

This senior individual contributor reports directly to the Head of the LMI Data Office and is responsible for driving the adoption and usability of structured and unstructured data across Liberty Mutual Investments. The focus is execution: reducing friction in how business teams access and use data, centralizing investment documents, tracking adoption metrics, capturing user feedback, and ensuring it flows into the data product backlog.

This person works hands-on with business partners across Investments, Risk, Finance, and Operations to make governed data and tools easier to find, trust, and use. They are the connective tissue between the Data Office and the rest of the organization.

Responsibilities

Data Adoption & Business Engagement

  • Partner directly with analysts, portfolio managers, risk managers, and finance users to understand how they access, interpret, and use data today.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, incorrect consumption patterns, and friction points in current data access and workflows.
  • Drive adoption of governed datasets, data catalog tools, and Gen-AI capabilities.
  • Establish and manage clear engagement and intake processes between the Data Office and business teams.
  • Develop onboarding materials, quick-start guides, and practical training that help users get value quickly.
  • Communicate data product improvements and changes in clear, business-relevant terms.

Investment Document Centralization

  • Lead the effort to centralize critical investment documents (structured and unstructured) into a single, trusted enterprise solution.
  • Meet with domain stakeholders to inventory current-state repositories and gather artifacts.
  • Work with Data Governance, GIS, and investment teams to define ownership, access controls, and maintenance expectations.
  • Collaborate with technology partners to build the roadmap for consolidating document assets into a centralized platform.
  • Ensure centralized documents are structured, governed, and ready to support Gen-AI-enabled analytics, research, and decision support.

Feedback Loop & Product Backlog Integration

  • Systematically collect user feedback on data products, tools, and experiences.
  • Translate feedback into actionable enhancement requests and work with Data Product Owners to prioritize them in the backlog.
  • Ensure a continuous improvement cycle where user input directly shapes the data product roadmap.
  • Promote product thinking within the Data Office by reinforcing consistent feedback loops and release cycles.

Metrics & Reporting

  • Define and track KPIs for data adoption, platform usage, user satisfaction, and AI-assisted interactions.
  • Identify and address gaps in tools, processes, or support that slow users down.
  • Deliver regular, concise updates to leadership on adoption progress, friction points, and improvement actions.

Data Office Initiative Execution

  • Execute on additional Data Office priorities as they arise, including cross-functional programs, governance rollouts, and enablement campaigns.
  • Act as a hands-on partner to Data Product Owners, Data Governance, and GIS to improve coordination, prioritization, and delivery.
  • Help embed the Data Office as a reliable, delivery-focused partner across the organization.

What Success Looks Like

  • Business teams across LMI can quickly find and use trusted data and documents with less friction than today.
  • Adoption of governed data products and platforms increases measurably and is sustained over time.
  • Investment documents are centralized, trusted, and ready for AI-assisted analysis.
  • User feedback consistently makes it into the data product backlog and drives real improvements.
  • The Data Office is seen as a responsive, execution-oriented partner that delivers.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in data management, data product management, business analysis, or a related field within financial services or investment management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into action.
  • Track record of driving adoption of data tools, platforms, or analytics capabilities.
  • Experience with unstructured data management, document centralization, or content management initiatives.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data catalogs, and modern data platforms.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to make technical concepts accessible to non-technical audiences.
  • Self-directed executor who can manage multiple workstreams without waiting for direction
