Description
The USRM Experience & Strategy team is looking for a Senior Product Owner (SPO) to lead the Olympus Sales Experience effort within the Distribution & Marketing Domain. The SPO will report to the Director Product Owner (DPO) of the I Buy / I Sell Insurance Professional Direct & Frontier portfolio and be the aligned people leader to four (4) Product Owners and one (1) Systems Support Analyst, all focused on driving the Olympus modernized sales experience for Direct Distribution users.
This is a highly visible and impactful role. The organization is committed to rolling out Olympus to all Direct users (DRC, 3rd Party Binding Partners, etc.) in advance of the Frontier Round 1 launch of the OneAuto product. In partnership with Direct Distribution, I&S, Engineering, Experience Design, and Experience Research, the SPO will be responsible for articulating and translating the overall business vision into strategy and direction for Olympus, while co-developing roadmaps, backlogs, and OKRs with the Product Owner team.
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience managing large, multi-year modernization efforts
- Deep knowledge of the Direct channel and the DRC operation
- Expert level product mindset to employ product thinking and product ownership best practices across a team
- Established history of leveraging user-centric design thinking to make bold decisions based on data and user feedback
- Collaborative mindset to work across multiple groups, including (but not limited to) Experience Design, Research, and Insurance Product
- Effective communication skills to work up, down, and across various USRM Experience domains, portfolios, and software products
- Passion for user experience design to re-imagine decades' old applications into modern experiences that delight users
The Senior Product Owner
- Sets ambitious and clear strategy, develops comprehensive Olympus vision, and translates into specific feature strategies and roadmaps.
- Communicates strategy effectively to key stakeholders and team members.
- Has knowledge of product offerings, business processes, Distribution and Product applications and services, underwriting rules, and Direct distribution workflows
- Owns alignment of development and business resources on goals and priorities while working with stakeholders and team to remove roadblocks to execution.
- Is responsible and accountable for assigned portfolio-level OKRS
- Owns portfolio backlog within a highly matrixed organization
- Manages effectively across priorities and roadmaps.
- Leads a team of product owners and system support analysts
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Bachelors’ degree in relevant field (business, computer science, etc.) and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in business, engineering, technology and/or consulting. Master’s degree preferred.
- High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities for product and understand business value impacts.
- Technical proficiency required to oversee quarterly & sprint planning and to have an informed, independent voice.
- Strong influencing skills to be seen as the decision maker when interfacing with business, and willingness to dissent with both teams and business.
- Ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders through strong leadership skills
- Ability to coach and inspire both direct reports and matrixed teams.
- Comfortable with making decisions with some level of uncertainty in a fast-paced working environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to convey information clearly and concisely
