Description
Liberty Mutual is seeking a Principal User Experience Researcher to help shape the future of the Independent Agent Distribution and Underwriting experience within US Retail Markets. In this strategic role, you’ll lead complex research initiatives, uncover actionable insights, and influence decisions that improve experiences for agents, employees, and customers. You’ll partner closely with UX, Product, Technology, Distribution, and business leaders, serving as both a research expert and trusted advisor while balancing hands-on research with thought leadership and mentorship.
What You’ll Do
- Lead research aligned to business priorities across Independent Agent Distribution and Underwriting
- Design and execute complex qualitative and quantitative research to inform strategy and experience design
- Synthesize insights from research, operational data, and industry trends to drive meaningful outcomes
- Translate findings into clear, compelling stories and actionable recommendations
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships and influence decision-making
- Mentor researchers and elevate research best practices
What Helps You Succeed
- Deep experience conducting UX research in agile, corporate environments
- Expertise across a wide range of research methods and tools (e.g., usability testing, interviews, surveys, Qualtrics, UserZoom)
- Strong data storytelling and communication skills
- Ability to balance strategic research with ongoing business needs
- Comfort working in complex, cross-functional environments
- Experience in insurance or financial services is a plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor`s degree in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Information Design or related field and minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Master`s degree in Human Factors, Human Computer
Interaction, Information Design or related field and 3 years of related experience. - PhD with 0-2 years of related experience. Or equivalent work experience.
- Specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in user research methods (e.g. usability testing, online surveys, interviews, contextual inquiry, focus groups) and methodologies, such as Design Thinking and Lean UX.
