Description
The Planning & Portfolio Management team is seeking a Grade 16 Consultant to own analytic assessment of book profitability and growth across GRS North America products. Join the team to play a central role in shaping GRS North America’s profitability and strategic direction: you’ll own high‑impact forecasting and portfolio work, collaborate daily with underwriting, pricing and finance leaders, and have visible influence on multi‑year targets like the 2030 strategy. The key responsibilities of this role include supporting development of robust Operational Plan (OVP) combined-ratio forecasts, developing and validating by-channel Loss Ratio forecasts for the financial plan, and supporting broader GRS North America portfolio-management initiatives. The role reports to the Portfolio Management Team Manager.
**This job is open to both Grade 16 Consultant, Advanced Analytics & Grade 16 Sr. Actuarial Analyst, Actuarial **
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the quarterly combined-ratio forecast process for each GRS North America line of business.
- Develop and validate by-channel Loss Ratio forecasts and associated assumptions to feed financial plan run-rates and profit reviews.
- Translate pricing and underwriting viewpoints into quantified plan inputs and present trade-offs to senior stakeholders to drive consensus on go‑forward actions.
- Maintain and enhance the master forecasting model and documentation, ensuring version control, auditability, and repeatable deliverables each planning cycle.
- Partner with pricing and underwriting leads to run scenario and sensitivity analyses that inform actions taken in profit reviews and portfolio prioritization.
- Communicate areas of concern that require stakeholder attention, providing thoughtful recommendations that influence countrywide decisions and initiatives.
- Apply knowledge of insurance financials and improvement levers to build cross-functional consensus on plans to achieve consistent, profitable growth.
- Query data and conduct ad hoc analyses to answer advanced business questions; build reusable tools and queries to support stakeholders.
- Serve as a point person for high-complexity, countrywide implementations.
- Lead own workstreams, managing low-to-moderate complexity projects independently and conducting high-complexity analyses with minimal direction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum 5 years, typically 7 or more years, of related experience required; Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other quantitative field are preferred fields of study.
- Master's Degree preferred; advanced education may be substituted for years of experience (Ph.D. with no professional experience).
- Deep knowledge of data sources, tools and business drivers.
- Ability to apply advanced analytical concepts to improve business outcomes.
- Ability to build analytic tools that will be used by business teams to analyze results and opportunities.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (VBA, macros, scripts, formulas, data visualization, etc.), PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (SAS, Emblem).
- Must have good planning, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
- Ability to present data, visually and verbally, to guide conversations with business managers.
Employees may apply for a new role after completing 12 months of employment in their current position.
