Description

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic Head of Strategy to lead and integrate long-term strategy, alignment, executive engagement, and enterprise communications for Global Risk Solutions (GRS). This critical role will provide direct influence and strategic partnership across the GRS organization, Finance and the broader enterprise. This individual will also act as a critical partner to the entire GRS Senior Leadership Team, collaborating and representing key strategic initiatives at GRS Leadership meetings. The Head of Strategy will orchestrate global strategic initiatives, competitive intelligence, and corporate development activities, while ensuring cohesive alignment across GRS’s diverse and geographically dispersed leadership teams with strong communication leadership. The ideal leader brings a global mindset, exceptional financial and/or strategic consultation expertise, and a track record of delivering business impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, communication, and execution of GRS’s long-term enterprise and segment strategies, ensuring strong alignment across all business units and regions.
  • Oversee and develop a global team of strategic leaders including the Strategy Leader for Liberty International Insurance (LII), Global Surety Strategy Leader, North America Strategy Leader, Corporate Development leaders, the Head of Alignment.
  • Lead and operationally manage the GRS Enterprise Communications team (matrixed into Global Brand & Communications), providing strategic direction, prioritization, and oversight for executive communications, M&A communications and integration messaging, and employee engagement.
  • Form GRS’s M&A strategy from opportunity assessment through diligence, deal execution, and seamless integration in partnership with the Corporate M&A and Capital teams.
  • Act as a key driver of executive engagement and strategic communication, facilitating dialogue with the CFO, segment presidents, and other senior leaders.

Leadership Impact & Influence:

  • Serve as a strategic partner within the GRS Leadership Team, shaping priorities and influencing decision-making across the organization and enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Lead a globally distributed, high-performing team responsible for strategy formulation, corporate development, alignment, enterprise communications and executive engagement covering multiple continents and business segments.
  • Drive integration and alignment across a complex, matrixed organization with significant global footprint and diverse market challenges.
  • Own high-impact initiatives that support underwriting profitability, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth, contributing to GRS’s competitive positioning.

The Team & Stakeholders:

  • Lead a global strategy, alignment, and communications function comprised of senior leaders responsible for key business segments: LII, Global Surety, North America, and Corporate Development, plus the Head of Alignment who manages executive engagement and organizational alignment.
  • Collaborate with segment presidents, functional leaders in underwriting, actuarial, technology, operations, and corporate functions to align strategy with execution.
  • Partner closely with the GRS CFO and finance leadership team to drive financial rigor and strategic clarity.
  • Engage external advisors, consulting partners, and industry experts as needed to inform strategy and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Work closely with enterprise teams in communications, talent development, and innovation to ensure strategy is clearly articulated and embedded across the global organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or other related field. MBA or other relevant advanced degree desired.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant general business experience, to include experience with consulting, strategy, M&A, finance, and evaluation of the economics of an insurance business.
  • Strong understanding of the commercial and specialty (re)insurer market, potentially showcased by professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, ARe, etc.
  • Expert communication and influencing skills, with a strong ability to build consensus among multiple levels and functions within the organization.
  • Must be driven and flexible enough to succeed in ambiguous and less structured situations. High degree of reliability and integrity and comfort with handling confidential information.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to multitask in a fast-paced. environment and juggle multiple complex projects at one time with competing and shifting priorities
  • Strong people leadership skills and experience managing a global team.
  • Ability and willingness to be mobile and travel internationally.
