Description

The Senior Director, Architecture – Corporate Technology is a senior technology executive accountable for defining, governing, and advancing the architectural direction for Corporate Technology across the enterprise. This role leads the development and execution of architecture strategy to enable modernization, scalability, security, and alignment with long-term business objectives.

As a strategic partner to Corporate Business leaders, this role translates business strategy into technology direction and measurable outcomes, with a strong emphasis on accelerating responsible AI adoption across corporate portfolios. As a member of Liberty Mutual Technology’s Federated Architecture leadership team, this leader will establish and ensure Corporate Tech alignment to enterprise architecture, drive modernization, and establish north star architectures that set Liberty up to win now and win in the future.

Responsibilities

Architecture Strategy & Modernization

  • Define and lead the architectural vision and roadmap for Corporate Technology, enabling the transition from legacy systems to modern, cloud-forward, API-driven platforms.
  • Establish and maintain architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and North Star strategies in alignment with Enterprise Architecture.
  • Ensure alignment across enterprise, platform, and solution architecture domains to drive consistency and execution toward target state architectures.
  • Balance long-term transformation objectives with near-term delivery needs.

Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Corporate Business leaders, translating business strategies into actionable architecture direction and investment priorities.
  • Partner with business, product, and engineering leaders to ensure architecture enables agility, operational efficiency, and differentiated outcomes.
  • Influence portfolio prioritization to maintain architectural integrity while enabling speed and innovation.

AI Enablement & Innovation

  • Define and lead the architecture strategy for AI enablement across Corporate Technology, including data, platforms, integration patterns, and governance.
  • Partner across technology and business teams to identify and prioritize high-value AI use cases.
  • Establish architectural guardrails and reference designs to ensure AI solutions are secure, compliant, ethical, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Enterprise Architecture Leadership

  • Serve as part of Liberty Mutual’s Federated Architecture Leadership, mobiliing Corporate Technology architects to shape architecture decisions that benefit the enterprise.
  • Influence senior technology and engineering leaders to align solutions with enterprise and corporate strategies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing architecture organization and community of practice.
  • Govern architectural decision-making, ensuring transparency in trade-offs and alignment with enterprise outcomes.

Transformation & Organizational Impact

  • Champion and lead technology-driven transformation initiatives across Corporate Technology.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to inform strategy and drive innovation.
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships across Technology, Security, Data, and Engineering to enable cohesive enterprise execution.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including senior architecture or enterprise platform roles.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale modernization and transformation initiatives in complex, distributed environments.
  • Broad experience leveraging technology for business impact across corporate domains, Finance, HR, and Legal
  • Proven ability to partner with senior business stakeholders and translate strategy into technology outcomes.
  • Deep experience defining and governing architecture standards while enabling delivery and innovation.
  • Experience enabling AI, data, or advanced analytics capabilities at enterprise scale.
  • Strong knowledge of modern architecture patterns, including cloud, APIs, event-driven architectures, and data platforms.
