Description
Under supervision, the CAT Management Analyst is responsible for the collection, quality assurance, modeling and reporting of the data used to assess vulnerability to natural and man-made events. Contributes to the development of risk management tools, data models, and processes needed to monitor and control exposures. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to process portfolios, interpret model results and generate insightful reports and recommendations to mitigate potential issues. Contributes to the continuous improvement of catastrophe modeling methodologies and processes, in order to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of risk assessment process. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
This is a hybrid position requiring twice a week in-office with preference on candidates residing within 50 miles of Boston, MA office. Please note this is subject to change.
Responsibilities:
- Leads and conducts catastrophe analyses using modeling software or other available techniques.
- Develops and maintains catastrophe models to assess potential losses.
Provides guidance on risk assessment methodologies and best practices. - Interprets model results and provides insights based in observations
Generates comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders. - Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate catastrophe risk and business strategies and operations.
- Evaluates and calibrates catastrophe models to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Monitors emerging trends and developments in catastrophe risk modeling and incorporates them into analysis methodologies. - Mentors and provide guidance to junior analysts.
- Participates in industry forums and conferences to share expertise and stay informed about the latest advancements in catastrophe risk management
- 2+ years of catastrophic modeling and CAT management reporting experience
- 1+ of experience and demonstrated proficiency with CAT management tools.
- Demonstrated data mining skills.
Qualifications
- College degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Finance/General Business or Engineering or equivalent education and/or experience
- 3+ years catastrophic modeling and CAT management reporting experience1+ of experience and demonstrated proficiency with CAT management tool employed by LIU
- Demonstrated data mining skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SQL knowledge
- Insurance and/or reinsurance background preferred
