Description
We are hiring a Data Product Owner for Data Access Management which sits at the center of one of our most critical enterprise data capabilities, Data Access Management, with a mandate to simplify how data is requested and provisioned while strengthening security, privacy, and compliance. The Data Product Owner will own the day-to-day product delivery for our USRM data access experience, spanning requesting, approving, provisioning, and auditing access for both human and non-human identities. You will drive enhancements to our data access product and UI experience, partner closely with engineering and governance stakeholders, and ensure our access and audit capabilities are scalable, intuitive, and compliant. This role is accountable for backlog ownership, clear requirements, release execution, and continuous improvement of the access and audit experience for our customers.
**This position may have in-office requirements dependent upon candidate location**
Key Responsibilities:
Product Ownership & Delivery
- Own and prioritize the product backlog for the Data Access Management team, ensuring alignment to outcomes (e.g., reduced time-to-access, improved self-service, fewer access exceptions, audit readiness).
- Translate customer problems and access needs into clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria (including functional and non-functional requirements such as auditability and traceability).
- Partner with engineering to plan releases, manage dependencies, and make tradeoffs to deliver iterative value.
- Define and track product metrics, and use feedback/telemetry to continuously improve the access experience.
- Data Access Product Scope (UI, human + non-human access)
- Own the end-to-end user experience for requesting and receiving data access, including workflows for standard access, elevated access, renewals/attestations, and exception handling.
- Ensure the product supports scalable access patterns for human users and non-human/service identities, including lifecycle management and clear ownership/accountability.
- Drive UX improvements that make the “right way” to get access easy, fast, and discoverable and reducing manual effort and workarounds.
- Audit Framework Ownership
- Own the product capabilities and operational workflows that enable access audits (e.g., annual reviews), including evidence collection, tracking, attestations, and reporting.
- Partner with governance, risk, and security stakeholders to ensure audit requirements are built into product features and user workflows.
- Continuously improve audit readiness by reducing gaps, increasing transparency, and strengthening traceability of access decisions.
Stakeholder Enablement & Enterprise Alignment
- Engage a broad cross-section of data science, advanced analytics, data stewardship, data engineering, and security stakeholders to gather feedback, surface challenges, and drive adoption.
- Partner with stakeholders to define enterprise guidelines and frameworks that optimize data access strategies while maintaining strong governance.
- Act as a subject-matter partner in access risk management, advising on best practices and ensuring alignment across USRM data products.
The Ideal Candidate Will Be:
- User-focused: designs for a simple, predictable access journey and reduces friction for end users.
- Strong product owner: excels at backlog ownership, writing requirements, prioritization, and iterative delivery with engineering teams.
- Outcome-driven: defines success with measurable metrics (cycle time, adoption/self-service, request reduction, audit readiness).
- Security and compliance-minded: understands how to embed controls into workflows without degrading usability.
- Collaborative and communicative: aligns stakeholders, manages expectations, and explains decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Detail-oriented: ensures access and audit workflows are reliable, traceable, and consistently executed.
Qualifications
- Strong written and oral communication skills required
- Experience in communicating recommendations to senior business leaders preferred
- BA/BS, or relevant work experience, in Computer Science or related field preferred
- MBA or advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or other quantitative discipline strongly preferred
- 5-7+ years of experience working in coding and data solutions design principles, particularly in open source tools and technology
Employees may apply for a new role after completing 12 months of employment in their current position.
