Description

Current remote internal candidates can be considered for this role

Are you passionate about security and its role within the developer experience? Do you thrive in an inclusive, collaborative environment where your ideas are valued? Are you curious, adaptable, and eager to learn and innovate? If so, come help us shift security left and empower every engineer to ship securely in Global Digital Services.

The Software Delivery team in Cloud Delivery & Engineering is hiring a security-focused DevOps Software Engineer to help lead the evolution of our secure coding and delivery practices at Liberty Mutual. As a member of the Secure Developer Experience team, you will lead the adoption of secure delivery practices across the developer community by shifting security left within the software delivery platform. You will work to enforce policy for compliant deployments, strive to eliminate sensitive data exposure across source code and application runtimes, and enable strong supply-chain protection throughout the software development lifecycle. Partnering with Global Cybersecurity, you will help educate and empower every team to adopt security frameworks with confidence, so every team ships securely without slowing down. As we expand AI and agentic capabilities within the developer experience, the work this team does today will serve as the security foundation that makes that growth possible safely and responsibly.

Responsibilities:

SDLC Champion: Improve upon and further integrate the security within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) into product design and engineering efforts, ensuring security is seamlessly integrated every stage of the software delivery pipeline.

Platform Security Engineer: Empower secure-by-default development by shipping libraries, frameworks, and reusable tooling that reduce risk across the entire developer community.

Collaborative Security Partner: Work closely with product owners, software engineers, and Global Cybersecurity partners to align secure delivery practices with enterprise strategy. Assist with efforts to proactively identify potential vulnerabilities and follow up with tooling and automation to prevent future occurrences.

Policy and Compliance Enforcer: Design and implement guardrails, policy-as-code, and automated controls that ensure compliant deployments and prevent sensitive data exposure across source code and application runtimes.

Enablement and Education Advocate: Collaborate with developers across the planning, design, and delivery of cybersecurity best practices. Develop documentation and provide hands-on support to engineering teams, enabling confident and efficient adoption of secure development frameworks.

Innovative Problem Solver: Keep pace with a rapidly evolving security landscape, driving strategic implementations that align with enterprise security standards and ultimately protect our business and customers. Embrace ambiguity and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and resilience.

AI-Augmented Security Engineer: Explore and integrate AI capabilities into the secure developer experience, identifying opportunities to enhance vulnerability detection, automate remediation, and reduce the burden of security toil on engineering teams.

We encourage you to apply and bring your expertise if you’re a:

    • Technical problem solver: You thrive in complex, fast-paced, emerging opportunity areas that require iterative decision making and technical implementations at an enterprise scale.
    • Customer-centric engineer: Working closely with users to define quality engineering experiences that balance efficiency, while advancing Liberty Mutual security and compliance standards.
    • Forward thinker: Keeping pace with a rapidly evolving technical landscape, driving strategic implementations that align with enterprise strategy, and ultimately protect our business and customers.
