Description
Hiring Manager: Steven Guyardi
The Enterprise Core Platform Modernization (ECPM) team within Global Digital Services (GDS) is hiring a Solutions Software Engineer with a primary focus on AI-enabled modernization, including agentic AI. As a technical leader within the program, you will design, prototype, and guide teams to implement AI-assisted and agent-driven workflows, define evaluation metrics, guardrails, and observability for AI outputs, and integrate AI solutions into the repeatable modernization factory to accelerate and scale modernization, including retirement and transpilation, across the enterprise. You will translate architectural direction into implementation-ready engineering patterns and automation, oversee delivery of POTs/POCs, and establish best-industry standards for validation, security, resiliency, and operational observability of modernization outputs. Partnering closely with architects, platform teams, and vendors, you will drive technical direction, enable cross-team alignment, mentor engineers, and champion adoption of AI capabilities to accelerate and scale modernization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype AI-enabled modernization solutions (including agentic AI) and guide teams to implement AI-assisted and agent-driven workflows to support and accelerate modernization efforts.
- Integrate AI solutions into the repeatable modernization factory, covering retirement and transpilation, to accelerate and scale enterprise modernization efforts.
- Translate architectural direction into implementation-ready engineering patterns, reusable templates, automation frameworks, and factory capabilities that enable consistent execution across projects.
- Serve as a technical leader and trusted decision partner, drive technical direction with architects, vendor partners, security/compliance teams, and program leadership.
- Support cloud-native modernization efforts on AWS and Kubernetes (EKS or equivalent), including CI/CD for containerized applications and integrating monitoring and security tooling for modernization outputs.
- Define and enforce validation, security, resiliency, and observability standards for modernization outputs and incorporate them into templates and runbooks.
- Identify systemic technical risks, dependencies, and modernization challenges across platforms, drive mitigation plans and act as a technical escalation point for issues.
- Evaluate tool/vendor options and run targeted POCs/POTs to inform enterprise adoption decisions.
- Partner with architects, platform engineering, security, product teams, and vendors to ensure technical alignment, smooth integrations, and operational readiness.
- Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, promote AI, reuse and standardization, and evolve engineering practices to increase throughput and reduce modernization risk.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience in complex enterprise environments, with substantial experience owning technical solutions across multiple teams and systems.
- Experience with agentic AI, AI workflows, AI-assisted development, or automation-driven engineering practices is required.
- Proven experience leading modernization, migration, or transformation initiatives (retirement and transpilation) and delivering solution artifacts such as architecture diagrams, migration runbooks, decision matrices, and POC/POT reports.
- Strong ability to translate high-level architecture and program objectives into implementation-ready engineering patterns, reusable templates, and automation frameworks.
- Demonstrated track record of driving technical direction and influencing cross-functional stakeholders (architects, platform teams, security/compliance, program management, and vendors) without formal authority.
- Experience defining validation, observability, security, and resiliency requirements for automated processes and integrating those requirements into pipelines, templates, and runbooks.
- Proven hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes in production environments (EKS or self-managed), including designing and operating containerized workloads, CI/CD for Kubernetes, and integrating observability and security tooling for cloud-native platforms.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages used for platform/tooling work (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js) and comfortable reviewing or specifying integration patterns and automation.
- Strong communication skills, with experience producing clear technical artifacts and presenting recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience
Employees may apply for a new role after completing 12 months of employment in their current position.
