Description
Hiring Manager: Neel Ambati
The GRS Claims Tech team is dedicated to enhancing the claims intake experience by leveraging innovative technologies that enable internal and external customers to seamlessly submit new losses and claim updates across multiple channels. We focus on delivering a customer-centric process through the development and maintenance of globally integrated capabilities that streamline the collection and processing of commercial claims, driving greater efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer with deep expertise in microservices architecture, APIs, and cloud-native design to join our team supporting multiple critical Claims Enablement Products – Special Service Instructions (SSI) Platform, Claims Communications Platform, Platinum 2 Way Texting Platform, and Global Claims Notes (GCN). In addition to supporting these essential systems, the team is actively engaged in several strategic initiatives, such as Evergreen, Risktrac Modernization, and FNOL Automation.
In this role, you will be involved in every stage of the software development lifecycle—from ideation through production—collaborating closely with architects, engineers, product managers, designers, stakeholders, and other cross-functional partners. You will champion technical excellence and quality improvements while leveraging dedicated innovation sprints throughout the year to explore and implement new technologies. If you have a proven track record of delivering scalable software solutions, a passion for addressing complex global challenges, and an empathetic, collaborative approach to mentoring and teamwork, we would love to connect with you.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience delivering highly available, enterprise-grade applications focused on security, monitoring, observability, and production support, you bring proven expertise in Java (Spring Boot), Node, TypeScript, front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Aurelia), and AWS, building and maintaining user-facing applications.
- Proficient in cloud-native development and experienced in designing and implementing AWS solutions—including Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, RDS, and deployment via CDK/CFT; AWS certification is a plus.
- Skilled in using Splunk, Datadog and CloudWatch for monitoring, extracting insights, and troubleshooting issues.
- Experience leveraging large language models (LLMs) to boost software development productivity, with hands-on experience integrating generative AI models (e.g., OpenAI GPT, AWS Bedrock, or similar) into applications for code generation, data transformation, or process automation considered a plus.
- Experience working in distributed Agile teams composed of both full-time employees and contractors, with a strong understanding of how to leverage Agile metrics to identify and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical abilities paired with excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to audiences with diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional teams with strong negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building skills while partnering across functions to influence and shape the product roadmap.
- Deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable features from backlog to production, maintaining thorough documentation and deployment guides to ensure robust software solutions.
- Demonstrate adaptability and sound decision-making in fast-paced, evolving business environments, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance performance, quality, and efficiency.
- Drive AI Engineering practices on team, coach and mentor junior engineers, fostering their growth while also working independently to solve complex technical problems and provide production support as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement in High Performing Engineering (HPE), Agile practices within self-organized teams, and participating in cross-domain knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Lead research and proof-of-concept efforts to develop innovative solutions for complex challenges, staying current with emerging technologies through dedicated innovation time.
- Leverage knowledge of the GRS Claims Tech domain (a plus) to enhance solution relevance and alignment with business needs.
Education
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience
