Description
This position focuses on the Global Financial Crime compliance area, part of Liberty Mutual’s Global Compliance & Ethics (GC&E) function. Specifically, the compliance investigator will focus on economic and trade sanctions investigations. The position will use compliance software, internal and external databases, and open source data to complete investigations. Additionally, the position is responsible for identifying risk and efficiency related trends to advance the screening operation. Supports other Global Financial Crimes projects as required.
This is a remote position. Candidates within 50 miles of Boston, MA and Portsmouth, NH are required to report onsite twice a week. Please note this policy is subject to change.
Responsibilities
- With input from Compliance Manager, assists management with the implementation and update of procedures that address regulations and shares results that facilitate the knowledge base and development of all compliance team members.
- Reviews the research and waiver recommendation of first level investigators on possible OFAC matches. Review must be timely and assessment must have solid rationale.
- Participates in the testing of new interface files into Prime Associates software or upgrades to vendor software.
- Communicates clearly, risk assessment and approach to management of false positive matches of Liberty data against the OFAC or other identified government screening list.
- Discusses less complex cases with OFAC where available data is inconclusive. Shares OFAC review with Compliance Supervisor and/or Manager. If requested, assists in updating and developing department's OFAC review procedures.
Qualifications
- Candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice or Business.
- 1-3 years experience in audit, compliance or related operational experience.
- Knowledge of insurance principles and concepts required.
- Advanced analytical/problem solving and research skills.
- Effective communication skills for writing reports/proposals and making presentations.
- Ability to work independently and lead others during projects.
