Description

The GRS Data & Analytics team is focused on delivering best-in-class data, analytics, and business insights solutions to Global Risk Solutions (GRS). Reporting to the GRS CDAO, the Sr. Director, Technology – Data Marketplace Platform Implementation and Modernization Lead will own the strategy, build-out, and sustained adoption of the GRS Data Marketplace — a shared, enterprise-grade platform that enables teams across GRS to discover, access, trust, and reuse data and analytics assets at scale. You will evolve the marketplace strategy, roadmap, translate governance and platform inputs into actionable delivery priorities, and partner with senior business leaders and change champions to drive meaningful adoption. You will work closely with Data Platform & Engineering, Business Insights & Capabilities, Advanced Analytics & AI Enablement, Data Strategy/Governance, and Domain Support & Data Operations to ensure the marketplace is performant, governed, secure, and continuously improving. You serve as the primary steward for the GRS Data Marketplace, balancing platform investment decisions with operational signals, user feedback, and enterprise outcomes. In addition this role may also own, lead and support initiatives in alignment with data foundation and modernization mandate.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Sets and continuously evolves the Data Marketplace strategy and roadmap, aligning priorities to enterprise data outcomes, GRS business objectives, and adoption signals from platform usage
  • Prioritizes initiatives using operational and usage signals from the platform (e.g., repeated access delays to claims datasets, low reuse of catastrophe model outputs) to ensure the marketplace delivers measurable business value
  • Translates governance, security, and platform architecture inputs into clear, actionable backlog priorities and sequenced delivery plans
  • Drives cross-domain product and governance decisions, including certification standards for production models, publishing expectations for BI dashboards, and data domain onboarding sequencing
  • Escalates marketplace decisions requiring executive alignment, prioritization, or funding approval with clear framing, options, and recommendations

Execution

  • Leads end-to-end platform implementation and continuous improvement of the GRS Data Marketplace, including:
    • Asset Discovery & Access: Governed cataloging, search, and provisioning of data, BI, and analytics assets across GRS domains
    • Usage & Adoption Monitoring: Instrumentation of platform metrics to surface utilization trends, friction points, and reuse opportunities
    • Certification & Quality Standards: Establishment and enforcement of asset certification standards to ensure consumers can trust what they access
  • Ensures the marketplace operates with strong access controls, data lineage, and governance conformance — enabling self-service without sacrificing trust or compliance
  • Serve as the voice of the data consumer — partner with underwriting, claims, actuarial, finance, and distribution to surface unmet data needs
  • Drive data modernization and adoption — lead the change management agenda; move the business from legacy reporting to a self-serve, insight-driven culture
  • Partners with application, engineering, and governance teams to resolve implementation roadblocks, integration dependencies, and platform performance constraints
  • Reviews marketplace value and performance metrics regularly and uses findings to course-correct roadmap priorities and delivery sequencing

Talent Management

  • Builds and leads a team spanning platform management, marketplace engineering, change & adoption, and data governance enablement
  • Partners with business champions (senior business leaders) to drive marketplace adoption, promote platform benefits, and collect and act on user feedback
  • Establishes scalable ways of working — including playbooks, onboarding guides, reusable templates, and training — to accelerate data asset publishing and consumer adoption across GRS
  • Coordinates with the Change & Adoption Lead to align roadmap delivery with marketplace enablement plans and communication strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent related experience; Master's Degree preferred
  • Generally a minimum of 15 years of related experience in data platform product management, enterprise data marketplace, analytics platform delivery, or related data leadership roles, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership capacity owning data strategy or platforms or leading data architecture; with 5 years in a people leadership role desirable
  • Prior ownership of a data marketplace or data mesh initiative — has stood up a data product catalog in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Insurance, financial services, or highly regulated industry background — P&C, specialty, or reinsurance experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience owning product decisions and tradeoffs for shared platforms used by multiple business teams in a large, matrixed organization
  • Deep working knowledge of data governance frameworks, data access controls, metadata management, and analytics workflows sufficient to make informed platform and prioritization decisions
  • Strong fluency in modern data platform concepts, including data cataloging, data mesh/marketplace architectures, asset certification, and self-service analytics enablement
  • Proven ability to use adoption, usage, and operational signals to guide platform investment decisions and communicate value to executive stakeholders
  • Strong prioritization and stakeholder management — ability to balance platform "run" operations with strategic "change" capability building across competing business priorities
  • Executive presence; able to influence senior leaders, build alignment across data domains, and drive adoption of marketplace standards and ways of working
  • Commercial & specialty insurance experience strongly preferred
