Grade 94-Coverage & Insights Attorney
Business Unit Legal Solutions seeks a highly-motivated attorney with substantial experience analyzing insurance coverage to join its Coverage & Insights team. The successful candidate will be responsible for counseling internal clients on coverage and insurance regulatory-related matters, as well as escalating key product/policy and emerging trends to dedicated business and legal partners. They will also be responsible for handling complex and specialized legal assignments within a dynamic Shared Solutions team while maintaining a high standard of legal and business ethics and professional responsibility.
Deep expertise and familiarity of personal and commercial lines property and casualty coverages is required. The candidate must also possess the ability to effectively collaborate across diverse teams, think strategically and broadly, demonstrate a growth mindset and provide practical, solutions-focused legal guidance.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice to the Company on insurance coverage matters involving a high degree of original and creative legal endeavor, complex or novel issues, and/or vigorous adverse parties.
• Perform legal research and provide legal coverage opinions to claims personnel on first and third-party coverage issues in commercial and personal policies, including specialty assignments.
• Manage high paced and diverse workflow while operating under minimal supervision.
• Work with, and provide oversight of, outside counsel on coverage matters.
• Monitor, interpret and report notable trends and developments in the law or within the Company that may impact UW and Claims strategies or business outcomes..
• Develop and present training programs to internal claims departments and participate in roundtable conferences with claims personnel on legal coverage matters.
• Collaborate closely with GRS and USRM Legal teams to align legal guidance with business strategies and operational goals, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and promote a seamless “One Legal” approach.
• Gain familiarity and understanding with corporate operations and Strategic Business Unit objectives.

• Uphold the highest standards of legal ethics, professionalism, and corporate responsibility.
Qualifications
- Expertise in providing comprehensive legal coverage advice with an ability to handle multiple priorities timely and efficiently on matters involving commercial and personal lines policies and related issues.
- Proven analytical skills as well as effective legal writing and communication skills with an attention to detail and client focus.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities timely and efficiently.
- Ability to build productive relationships with Company personnel as well as outside counsel and representatives of other companies.
- Completion of law school with a J.D. or L.L.B. degree and admission to the bar of at least one jurisdiction in the United States. Must be in good standing for all jurisdictions in which candidate is admitted.
- Generally requires at least ten years’ experience as a practicing attorney.
