Description

Owns the results and overall leadership of GRM U.S. Personal Lines Core Casualty Field Operation with national scope for both Safeco and Liberty Mutual brands. The Core Operation is comprised of Attorney Repped and Unrepped groups focused on injury claims with a gross potential value up to $100,000. This important role sets the goals and objectives for the operation, drives Operational Excellence and Leadership Development, and holds the team accountable. They will inspire a culture of operational excellence across all teams where all are committed to providing a differentiated customer experience with a focus on our ACES philosophy – Accuracy, Care, Ease and Speed.

**This position will have in-office requirements twice a week based on candidate location.**

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the development and performance of the Casualty Core Field Operation countrywide. Aligns team capabilities with operational goals to support optimal performance and removes barriers to success.
  • Responsible for 650+ employees with an annual claims spend of $1B+.
  • Creates and implements a culture that focuses on driving optimal outcomes with a focus on loss and expense management, ensuring appropriate tool and vendor utilization.
  • Determines and sets the Core Field Operational goals and operating principles and aligns goals to functional mission and vision. Displays an understanding of industry best practices and maintains an awareness of emerging trends to monitor the company’s compliance with state and federal legislation.
  • Creates a vision and talent strategy to develop staff and create talent pipelines to ensure availability of needs throughout the Casualty organization. Engages and attracts exceptional claims talent and holds others accountable for attracting and developing talent at all levels.
  • Evaluates operational practices and establishes new practices/processes that enhance organizational effectiveness, complying with the regulatory environment. Maintains a presence in claims offices across the country, travelling as necessary and using virtual leader standard work. Makes sound recommendations to Claims leadership, ensuring appropriate resource allocation (e.g. budget, talent, assets, etc.)
  • Monitors the claims reserve practices to ensure reserves are accurate. Reviews and approves, within assigned authority limits, claim expenses and settlements that exceed their Field Manager’s authority level

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large, multi-location claims organization with the ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to create business plans that align to organizational strategies.
  • Develop the operations talent pool at all levels.
  • Develop and implement plans that improve operational effectiveness; develop and champion innovative solutions to complex problems; and sponsor/promote change initiatives.
  • Advanced knowledge of personal lines casualty insurance, claims handling, insurance legal & regulatory environment, claims processes, applications/systems and procedures.
  • Education – as normally acquired through a bachelor`s degree or equivalent and 10+ years of progressively more responsible related work experience
