Description

We’re hiring an Assistant Director, Data Solutions to help scale how Claims teams discover, understand, and use trusted data products. In this senior individual-contributor role, you’ll sit at the intersection of business and data engineering—profiling new data, shaping requirements for curated data views and marts, enabling users through documentation and onboarding, and building AI-assisted experiences (including Snowflake-based assistants where applicable) that help analysts answer ad-hoc questions faster using governed data. You’ll partner closely with Claims Analytics, Claims Reporting, Claims Data Science, Claims Process, IT data squads, and our governance/compliance stakeholders across multiple Claims domains.

**This position may have in-office requirements dependent upon candidate location**

What you’ll do

  • Profile and assess new data (structure, completeness, quality, lineage, and fit for use) and recommend how it should be curated for consumption.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements for curated views/data products that are built by IT data squads; define success criteria and support validation.
  • Create and maintain high-quality documentation (data definitions, usage guidance, lineage/assumptions, known limitations) to enable scalable self-service.
  • Partner with end users to onboard and adopt new data products; gather feedback and continuously improve usability and clarity.
  • Design and build AI assistants that help analysts and business users answer questions using our Claims data marts (e.g., guided Q&A, semantic retrieval, prompt patterns, evaluation/guardrails).
  • Prototype and iterate on solutions by developing proof-of-concepts, testing/validating approaches with users and stakeholders, and partnering with IT squads to scale successful prototypes into robust, supported data products.
  • Lead and contribute in cross-functional working groups, driving alignment across stakeholders and presenting progress, recommendations, and outcomes to different audiences and leadership levels.

What you’ll bring

  • Advanced SQL skills and strong experience with data profiling/analysis (identifying quality issues, anomalies, and transformation requirements).
  • Hands-on experience with GenAI tooling and applying it to analytics/data workflows (e.g., building assistants/copilots, RAG concepts, prompt design, evaluation/guardrails).
  • Proven ability to self-manage, operate independently, and drive outcomes in an ambiguous environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentations and the ability to tailor messaging to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience partnering across business stakeholders, engineering teams, and governance/compliance functions.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Snowflake (including Snowflake AI capabilities), AWS data ecosystems, or modern analytics stacks
  • Python for analysis/prototyping
  • Prior exposure to Guidewire products
  • Experience in P&C insurance claims data and processes

Why this opportunity

  • Work across diverse Claims lines and help shape the next generation of trusted, consumable data products.
  • Build practical AI-enabled solutions that directly improve analyst productivity and consistency.
  • Drive visibility and influence through cross-functional leadership—without needing direct reports to make a big impact.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required

  • Bachelor`s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline preferred

  • Master`s in same or related disciplines strongly preferred

  • 5-7+ years experience in coding for data management, data warehousing, or other data environments, including, but not limited to, working in NoSQL implementation, ETL, Java, scripting languages (Python, Perl, Shell), and the Hadoop stack

  • 5-7+ years experience as developer with top quadrant Business Intelligence tools

Employees may apply for a new role after completing 12 months of employment in their current position.
