Description
Join USRM Experience & Strategy as a Product Owner (PO) driving the delivery of new Sales Experiences for Liberty’s Direct go-to-market vertical. This PO role will own a portion of a new sales experience for Liberty Mutual's direct sales call center, enabling personal lines auto products to be sold on a modernized platform.
This role will report to a Sr Manager, Product Owner within a portfolio of products whose mission is to "Empower our internal insurance professionals to deliver value for their customers and Liberty through profitable New Business Growth. We do this through Sales Experiences that delight users and deliver accurate & efficient quotes."
The Product Owner will:
- Represent the voice of the customer and the organization, ensuring delivered work produces clear business value.
- Understand customer problems in depth and ensure those problems are clearly framed and prioritized.
- Partner with stakeholders to explore and leverage new capabilities and tools; Challenge historical assumptions and advocate for pragmatic changes to legacy approaches that deliver better business outcomes.
- Act as a strong communicator and partner, working closely with stakeholders to maintain aligned priorities and expectations.
- Own the product backlog for the new quote-and-bind sales experience; translate customer and business needs into outcome-driven epics and workstreams.
- Work with engineering teams and architects to develop a deep understanding of the technologies and systems that support the product.

- Be able to navigate matrixed organizations to inform and influence cross-functional partners to manage dependencies and influence aligned priorities
The ideal candidate will have:
- Personal lines auto product knowledge
- Experience working in a call center sales tool
Responsibilities
- Co-create and communicate a clear product vision and strategy that aligns to portfolio objectives and executive priorities.
- Translate strategy into measurable product goals and KPIs; track outcomes and use data to inform prioritization.
- Own, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog; write clear, actionable epics and user stories with acceptance criteria.
- Enable trade-off decisions by evaluating customer impact, technical feasibility, cost of delay, and business value; surface trade-offs and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
- Drive planning and delivery: set priorities for quarterly planning, participate in Agile ceremonies, and work with engineering and experience design to clarify requirements and remove blockers.
- Build and sustain strong relationships across engineering, business, design, and executive stakeholders to resolve dependencies, negotiate priorities, and align expectations for delivery.
- Develops strong stakeholder relationships and influencing across multiple organizational boundaries
- Communicates and sets expectations with stakeholders for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities.
- Build strong relationships and influence across engineering, business and executive stakeholders to resolve dependencies
- Ensure requirements account for regulatory, compliance, and industry constraints and lead stakeholder alignment on the product-level impact across the portfolio.
- Monitor product health and ecosystem effects; design instrumentation and reporting to surface risks, performance, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Bachelors’ degree in relevant field (business, computer science, humanities etc.), 7 years in business, technology, or consulting with 5 to 7 years direct experience with agile teams
- Master's degree preferred
- High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities for product and understand business value impacts
- Develops strong stakeholder relationships and influencing across multiple organizational boundaries
- Demonstrated experience leading varied audiences through the development of complex ideas, issues and designs
- Ability to lead varied audiences through census building
- Proven experience with Agile practices and expectations
- Comfortable with making decisions with some level of uncertainty
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of insurance industry preferred
- Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio strongly preferred
- Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amongst uncertainty and exploit market opportunities
