Job Introduction:
Global Finance Technology (GFT) is seeking a passionate and collaborative Data Solutions Engineer to join our Finance Data teams in delivering innovative business data solutions, with a primary emphasis on Data Modeling and Governance. As a key contributor to our data modernization efforts, you will help shape the future of our cloud-based architecture and ensure robust data standards across the organization.
In this dynamic environment, you will play an essential role in evolving our data strategy and governance roadmap, designing and implementing data models that support GFT’s business goals. As part of an empowered agile portfolio, you’ll collaborate with Product Owners, the Data Office, and Architecture teams to establish best practices in data governance and accelerate the delivery of high-quality business data solutions.

About the job:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on data modeling and governance throughout the Finance Data organization, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Provide specialized expertise to enhance understanding of historical data, application code, and business processes within agile squads.
- Mentor and coach team members across distributed teams, embodying a servant leadership approach to support growth and collaboration.
- Guide delivery squads on training and learning opportunities to strengthen technical skills and promote continuous improvement.
- Define data sourcing and solutioning recommendations to ensure proposed epics/features are actionable as squads receive them.
- Align business asks from Data Office and other business stakeholders to the future state architecture principles and roadmap.
- Translate the data strategy into actionable solutions by applying appropriate tools and patterns to specific use cases.
- Design and orchestrate scalable, reusable data solutions that optimize development costs across various business domains.
- Continually contribute to the evolution of our North Star data architecture roadmap and strategy based on new and emerging technology needs.
- Establish, share, and align best practices for data modeling and governance across squads to foster consistency within the Finance Data organization.
- In an Agile environment, work closely with development squads, Data Architecture team, management, stakeholders and Product Owners to align requirements/strategy to technical capabilities, set technical direction and evangelize Gen AI opportunities across the data engineering teams.
- Partner with the Data Office to translate business requirements into solution designs. Recommend appropriate technical approaches (model strategy, data pipelines, security controls, Governance, etc.), produce secure and scalable design artifacts, and delivery reviews with data teams through implementation and rollout.
- Partner with application/data architects as well as other application teams to implement solutions and ensure effective integration with upstream source systems.
- Reviews and ensures architectural implementations are consistent, maintainable, flexible and cost effective.
- Defines technical acceptance criteria for deliverables.
- Provides information management guidelines, principles, and practices to ensure governance standards and customer reportable data needs are met.
- Develop and nurture effective relationships with other departments, groups, and peers to ensure collaboration and alignment.
- Makes recommendations to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
- Demonstrate strong technical architecture and leadership skills with ability to handle multiple activities in a dynamic and energizing environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10+ years of hands-on data design and development experience at least 3 of which should be in a technical leadership role.
- Proven track record in defining architecture roadmaps, developing business cases, and implementing data solutions.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing and modern cloud/hybrid data architecture concepts.
- Deep understanding of data concepts, strategies, methodologies, and emerging technologies as well as new architectural principles.
- Experience with various data platforms, including relational databases, XML, data lakes, and unstructured data solutions.
- Expertise in data governance and information management frameworks; Understanding of data management, relational databases, and reference data management is essential.
- Proven ability to represent data using entity-relationship, dimensional, and semantic modeling techniques, with experience leading and actively contributing to iterative modern data architecture projects.
- Skilled in performing data research/profiling and applying insights to solution design.
- Ability to explain complex data modeling and governance concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence key decision-makers.
- Capable of balancing support for legacy systems while delivering new business capabilities.
- Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills with track record of taking solution ownership and accountability.
- Experience with modern engineering practices, Snowflake, Informatica IDMC, cloud computing (AWS), Gen AI and development using micro services architecture is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Architects).
- Ability to adhere to organizational guidelines and standards while contributing to their evolution through innovation.
- Exceptional negotiation, consensus-building, and influencing skills; adaptable and responsive to change.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, with strong presentation capabilities.
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization.
